6.1 Door Compatibility

The lock is suitable for doors with a thickness of 30-70mm. It can be installed on steel, wooden, glass, brass, and stainless steel doors. The slim panel design (38mm) is suitable for most framed doors.

6.2 Measure Your Door

Before installation, accurately measure your door's thickness, the length of the guide sheet, and the width of the guide sheet to ensure proper fit and selection of the correct mortise.

6.3 Mortise Options

The lock supports various mortise types. It is crucial to select the correct mortise for your door to ensure proper functionality and security. Refer to the diagram below for common mortise options and their dimensions.

6.4 General Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the door: Ensure the door is clean and the existing mortise cutout matches the new lock's requirements. If replacing an old lock, you may need to adjust the cutout.
  2. Install the mortise: Insert the chosen mortise into the door edge and secure it with screws.
  3. Install the front panel: Route the cables through the door and attach the front panel.
  4. Install the rear panel: Connect the cables to the rear panel and secure it to the door.
  5. Test functionality: Verify that the handle operates smoothly and the latch/deadbolt extends and retracts correctly.
  6. Install battery: Insert the fully charged lithium battery into the battery box.

Note: The handle direction is reversible and can be adjusted as needed during installation.

The Tuya Smart Door Lock Z1 offers six convenient ways to unlock:

  • APP Unlock: Use the Tuya Smart App on your smartphone to remotely unlock the door.
  • 3D Face Unlock: The lock's HD binocular camera and AI face recognition algorithm automatically capture and recognize face information for fast (0.3 seconds) and accurate (99.9% correct recognition rate) identification.

  • Fingerprint Unlock: Place your registered finger on the semiconductor biological fingerprint reader for sensitive and fast recognition (0.5 seconds, <0.001% false recognition rate).

  • PIN Code: Enter your programmed numerical password on the touch keypad.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Battery Management

The lock is powered by a 3200mAh rechargeable lithium battery, offering super long standby time. When the battery is low, the lock will provide a warning. You can recharge the battery via the USB charging port on the front panel using a standard USB power source.

In case of complete power loss, a spare mechanical key is provided for emergency access. It is recommended to keep the battery charged and consider having a portable power bank for emergency charging via the USB port.

8.2 General Care

  • Regularly clean the lock's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive materials.
  • Ensure the fingerprint sensor and camera lens are clean for optimal performance.
  • Check the battery level periodically, especially if you are away for extended periods.

  • Lock not responding: Check battery level. If low, use emergency USB power or mechanical key.
  • Fingerprint/Face recognition failure: Ensure the sensor/camera lens is clean and your registered biometric data is correctly enrolled. Try re-registering if issues persist.
  • APP connection issues: Ensure your home WiFi network is stable and the lock is within range. Restart the app and the lock if necessary.
  • Doorbell not ringing on app: Verify app notifications are enabled and the lock is connected to the internet.

  • Battery Recharge Options: The battery can be recharged via the USB port on the front panel. While a spare battery is not typically included, you may be able to purchase one separately from the seller for quick swapping.
