This diagnostic tool performs engine checks, ABS and SRS diagnoses, and includes over 25 special reset functions. For your safety and the safety of others, and to prevent damage to the equipment and vehicles, read this manual thoroughly before operating your scanner. The safety messages presented below and throughout this user's manual are reminders to the operator to exercise extreme care when using this device. Always refer to and follow safety messages and test procedures provided by vehicle manufacturer. Read, understand and follow all safety messages and instructions in this manual.
Safety Message Conventions Used
We provide safety messages to help prevent personal injury and equipment damage. Below are signal words we used to indicate the hazard level in a condition.
DANGER: Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury to the operator or to bystanders.
WARNING: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury to the operator or to bystanders.
CAUTION: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in moderate or minor injury to the operator or to bystanders.
Important Safety Instructions
Always use your scanner as described in the user's manual, and follow all safety messages.
- Do not route the test cable in a manner that would interfere with driving controls.
- Do not exceed voltage limits between inputs specified in this user's manual.
- Always wear ANSI approved goggles to protect your eyes from propelled objects as well as hot or caustic liquids.
- Fuel, oil vapors, hot steam, hot toxic exhaust gases, acid, refrigerant and other debris produced by a malfunction engine can cause serious injury or death. Do not use the scanner in areas where explosive vapor may collect, such as in below-ground pits, confined areas, or areas that are less than 18 inches (45 cm) above the floor.
- Do not smoke, strike a match, or cause a spark near the vehicle while testing and keep all sparks, heated items and open flames away from the battery and fuel / fuel vapors as they are highly flammable.
- Keep a dry chemical fire extinguisher suitable for gasoline, chemical and electrical fires in work area.
- Always be aware of rotating parts that move at high speed when an engine is running and keep a safe distance from these parts as well as other potentially moving objects to avoid serious injury.
- Do not touch engine components that get very hot when an engine is running to avoid severe burns.
- Block drive wheels before testing with engine running. Put the transmission in park (for automatic transmission) or neutral (for manual transmission). And never leave a running engine unattended.
- Do not wear jewelry or loose fitting clothing when working on engine.
- Don't connect or disconnect the equipment while the ignition is on or the engine is running.

- Diagnostic Port: Provides connection between the vehicle and the scanner.
- LCD Display: Shows menus, test results, and operation tips.
- Function Keys / Shortcut keys (F1, F2, F3): Three keys that correspond with “buttons” on some screens for executing special commands or providing quick access to most frequently used applications or functions.
- Direction Keys: Select an option or scroll through a screen of data or text.
- OK Key: Executes a selected option and generally goes to the next screen.
- BACK Key: Exits a screen and generally returns to previous screen.

5. Getting Started & Setup
5.1 Providing Power to Scanner
Before using the scanner, ensure it is powered. The unit operates on 12-volt vehicle power or via USB connection to a computer.
5.1.1 Connecting to Vehicle Power
- Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC), generally found under the dash on the driver's side.
- Attach the Diagnostic cable to the scanner and tighten the captive screws for a secure connection.
- Connect the correct adapter to the data cable and plug it into the vehicle's DLC.
- Switch the ignition key to the ON position.
- The scanner will automatically boot up.
IMPORTANT: Never attempt to power the scan tool from a USB connection while it is communicating with a vehicle.
5.1.2 Connecting to Computer with USB Cable
The scan tool can also receive power via its USB port when connected to a computer for software updates and data printing.
- Connect the scanner to a computer using the provided USB cable.
5.2 System Setup
This section details how to configure the scanner to your preferences.
5.2.1 Select Language
The scanner defaults to English. To change the system language:
- From the Home screen, navigate to Settings.
- Scroll to highlight Language and press the ENTER key.
- Use the arrow keys to select your desired language (e.g., Portuguese, German, Japanese, Russian, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Hungarian, Korean, Swedish, Simplified Chinese, Chinese Traditional, Thai) and press ENTER to confirm.
- Press the Back key to exit.

5.2.2 Change Units
To change the unit of measure:
- From the Settings menu, scroll to highlight Units and press the ENTER key.
- Use the arrow keys to select either Metric or Imperial and press ENTER to save and return.
5.2.3 Configure Shortcut Keys
You can customize the functionality of the shortcut buttons (F1, F2, F3).
- From the Settings menu, scroll to highlight Shortcuts and press the ENTER key.
- Select the shortcut key you wish to configure (e.g., Edit ShortCuts F1 Function) and press ENTER.
- Scroll to highlight the desired application to assign to the shortcut key and press ENTER.
5.3 Registering Your Scanner
To ensure you receive the latest updates and support, you must register your NT650 PRO scanner.
5.3.1 Create a FOXWELL ID
If you are a new FOXWELL user, you need to create a FOXWELL ID first.
- Visit www.foxwelltech.us and select Support > Register, or click the Register link on the website.
- Enter your email address, click “Send code” to receive a verification code, create a password, confirm it, and click “Free registration” to complete.
5.3.2 Register Product Through Website
- Log in to your FOXWELL account on www.foxwelltech.us.
- In the Member Center, click My Products > New Registration.
- Input the correct serial number of your device (found on the About page in Settings or on the back of the unit/warranty card) and click Submit.
5.3.3 Register Product by Scanning QR Code
- On the scanner, go to Update and connect to an available WiFi network.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the scanner screen to register and sign in, then complete product registration.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Application Overview
When the scan tool boots up, the Home screen displays all loaded applications. Available applications may vary based on software configuration.
- Auto VIN: Identifies a car by VIN reading.
- OBDII/EOBD: Accesses all 9 generic OBD system tests.
- Diagnostic: Provides screens for diagnostic trouble code information, live data stream, and ECU information.
- Maintenance: Leads to screens for frequently required service features.
- Settings: Adjusts default settings and views scanner information.
- Data Manager: Accesses data records.
- Update: Updates the scanner software.
6.2 Input Dialog Box
The scan tool provides different types of keyboards (QWERTY, numeric, alphabet, hexadecimal) for inputting text and numbers such as VIN, channel numbers, test values, and DTCs. When text input is required, press the Keyboard function key.
6.3 Vehicle Identification
The scanner identifies vehicle specifications from the vehicle's ECM. You can identify a vehicle using:
- Automatic VIN Reading: Automatically reads the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
- Manual VIN Entry: Manually input a 17-digit VIN code.
- Manual Vehicle Selection: Select vehicle brand, model year, and engine type from a series of menus.
6.4 Diagnostic Operations
After connecting to the vehicle and selecting the system, the Function Menu displays options for diagnostics.
6.4.1 Control Module Selection
You can identify control modules via Quick Scan or by manually selecting Control Modules.
- Quick Scan: Performs an automatic system test to identify installed control modules and provides a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) overview.
- Control Modules: Displays all available controllers on the vehicle.
6.4.2 ECU Information
Displays identification data of the control module, such as identification string, coding, and Work Shop Code.
6.4.3 Read Codes
Reads trouble codes (Present/Permanent/Current, Pending, History) found in the control unit.
6.4.4 Clear Codes
Clears all current and stored DTCs and temporary ECU information, including freeze frame data. Ensure the problem is fixed before clearing codes.
6.4.5 Live Data
View and record real-time PID data from a selected electronic control module. Options include Complete List (all PIDs) or Custom List (selected PIDs).
6.5 OBDII/EOBD Operations
The OBDII/EOBD menu provides access to all OBD service modes, including:

The NT650 PRO offers over 25 special reset and maintenance functions. Note that service functions are primarily for imported vehicles, and most reset functions are not compatible with domestic vehicles. Always consult for compatibility before purchase.

- Oil Service Reset: Resets service lamps on the instrument cluster after an oil change.
- EPB (Electronic Parking Brake): Performs service and maintenance of brake systems, including deactivation/activation, bleeding brake fluid, and pad replacement.
- BRT (Battery Replacement): Validates new batteries, clears dashboard faults, and displays current battery details.
- DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Regeneration: Cleans the DPF by burning off captured particulates.
- TBA/TPS (Throttle Body Alignment): Learns the full open and closed positions of the throttle body.
- SAS (Steering Angle Sensor) Calibration: Permanently stores the current steering wheel position as straight-ahead.
- TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Programming: Checks tire sensor IDs, performs TPMS programming and reset after tire/sensor replacement or rotation.
- Gear Learning: Adapts crankshaft position sensor to learn crankshaft tooth machining tolerance.
- CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission): Resets compensation code and initializes ECT after solenoid valve or valve body assembly replacement.
- Injector Coding: Resets and matches data after injector replacement.
- A/F Adjust: Changes fuel supply to adjust steam production and maintain energy balance.
- ABS Bleeding: Removes air from the internal brake fluid chambers for a firm brake pedal.

8. Troubleshooting
This section provides general guidance for common issues. For more complex problems, refer to the support section.
- Scanner Not Powering On: Ensure the diagnostic cable is securely connected to the vehicle's DLC and the ignition is in the ON position. If using USB power, ensure the cable is connected to a working computer port.
- Communication Errors: Verify the diagnostic cable is properly connected. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is ON. Check if the vehicle model, engine, and year are correctly selected in the scanner.
- DTCs Not Clearing: Ensure the ignition key is switched to ON with the engine off before attempting to clear codes. Remember that clearing codes does not fix the underlying problem; the fault must be repaired first.
- Update Issues: Ensure a stable WiFi connection. Verify that you have created and logged into your FOXWELL ID. Make sure the scanner is turned on and has sufficient power during the update process.
- Display or Keypad Malfunction: The scanner includes built-in tests for the display and keypad under the 'Settings' menu. Use these to diagnose hardware issues.
9. Software Updates
The NT650 PRO supports lifetime free updates via Wi-Fi, ensuring your tool always has the latest vehicle coverage and functions.

How to Update
- On the scanner, navigate to the Update application.
- Select an available WiFi network and connect.
- The scanner will display a list of available software updates. Check the box(es) next to the software you wish to update.
- Click the Update Select button to download and install the updates.
- Once all items are updated, a message “All software downloads are successfully installed!” will display.
NOTE: Before updating, ensure your network is working correctly, you have created a Foxwell ID, and your scanner is turned on.
10. User Tips
- For optimal performance, always keep your scanner's software updated to the latest version.
- When performing maintenance functions, especially those involving safety systems like EPB or Airbag, always follow vehicle manufacturer guidelines in addition to the scanner's instructions.
- If you encounter difficulty identifying a vehicle automatically, try manual VIN entry or manual vehicle selection.
- Utilize the 'Custom List' feature in Live Data to focus on specific parameters relevant to your diagnostic task, improving efficiency.
11. Warranty and Support
11.1 One-Year Limited Warranty
Shenzhen Foxwell Technology Co., Ltd (“FOXWELL”) warrants to its customer that this product is free of defects in material and workmanship at the time of its original purchase for a subsequent period of one (1) year.
If the product fails to operate under normal use due to defects in materials and workmanship during the warranty period, FOXWELL will, at its sole option, either repair or replace the product. No charge will be made for replacement parts or labor incurred by FOXWELL.
This warranty does not cover abnormal use, improper storage, unauthorized modifications, misuse, neglect, abuse, accident, or damage from external causes (e.g., collision, fire, flooding, theft, battery leakage). The customer bears the cost of shipping the product to FOXWELL for service, while FOXWELL covers return shipping.
FOXWELL does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. If a problem develops, return the product to the place of purchase or contact your local FOXWELL distributor. Provide a complete description of the problem and original invoice with date of purchase and serial number. You will be billed for parts or labor not covered by this warranty.
FOXWELL will repair the product within 30 days of receipt. If repairs cannot be performed within 30 days, or after multiple attempts, FOXWELL will provide a replacement product or refund the purchase price less a reasonable amount for usage.
Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited to the duration of this one-year written warranty. This warranty is the consumer's sole and exclusive remedy and is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied. FOXWELL shall not be liable for special, incidental, punitive or consequential damages.
