1. Introduction

The KUAIQU SPPS-D305-232 is a high-precision, programmable DC adjustable power supply designed for a wide range of applications including production line testing, mobile phone and computer maintenance, product aging, electroplating, battery charging, and laboratory research. It features a clear 4-digit display for voltage, current, and power, an encoder knob for precise adjustments, and communication interfaces for software control.

3. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the power supply and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components are present: power supply unit, power cord, and alligator clip test leads.
  2. Placement: Place the power supply on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure the rear cooling fan is not obstructed.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided AC power cord to the power input socket on the rear of the unit (refer to Figure 2.3). Plug the other end into a suitable 110V/220V AC power outlet.
  4. Output Connections: Connect your load to the output terminals on the front panel. Use the red terminal for positive (+), green for ground (GND), and black for negative (-) (refer to Figure 2.2). Ensure connections are secure.
  5. USB/RS232 Connection (Optional): For computer control, connect the power supply to your computer using a USB or RS232 cable (refer to Figure 2.3 and Figure 3.1). Install the necessary software drivers and application on your computer.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Front Panel Controls

  • Encoder Knob (ADJUST): Used for precise adjustment of voltage and current values. Press the knob to switch between digits for fine-tuning.
  • M1-M4 (MEMORY): Four memory buttons to store and recall frequently used voltage and current settings.
  • LOCK: Locks the panel buttons to prevent accidental changes to settings.
  • V/A (Voltage/Current Switch): Toggles between voltage and current adjustment modes.
  • On/Off (Output): Toggles the power output to the connected load.

4.2 Basic Operation

  1. Power On: Press the POWER button on the front panel. The display will illuminate.
  2. Set Voltage/Current:
    • Press the V/A button to select either Voltage (V) or Current (A) for adjustment.
    • Turn the ADJUST encoder knob to change the value.
    • For fine adjustment, press the ADJUST knob to select a specific digit, then turn the knob to change that digit's value (0-9).
  3. Recall/Store Settings:
    • To store current settings: Press and hold one of the M1-M4 buttons until the display indicates the setting is saved.
    • To recall saved settings: Briefly press one of the M1-M4 buttons.
  4. Output Control: Press the On/Off button to enable or disable the power output to your load. The display will show 'ON' or 'OFF' accordingly.
  5. Lock Panel: Press the LOCK button to disable all front panel button functions, preventing accidental changes. Press again to unlock.

4.3 Software Control (USB/RS232)

The power supply can be controlled via computer software, allowing for programmed output tests and data logging. Refer to the software's specific instructions for installation and usage.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the cooling fan on the rear panel is free from dust and obstructions to maintain optimal performance and prevent overheating. The smart cooling fan is designed for rapid cooling during long operation.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the power supply in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables for signs of wear or damage. Replace any damaged cables immediately.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Output:
    • Check if the 'On/Off' button is pressed and the output is enabled.
    • Verify the power cord is securely connected and the unit is receiving power.
    • Ensure the voltage and current limits are set appropriately for your load.
  • Overload/Over Temperature Protection:
    • The unit features Over Temperature Protection and Overloading Protection. If activated, the output may shut down.
    • Reduce the load or allow the unit to cool down if over temperature is suspected.
    • Check for short circuits in your connected load.
  • Incorrect Readings:
    • Ensure proper connection of test leads to the load.
    • Verify the load is within the operational limits of the power supply.
  • Software Communication Issues:
    • Check USB/RS232 cable connections.
    • Ensure correct drivers are installed and the software is configured for the correct COM port and baud rate.
