This manual provides detailed instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Physical Installation

The mini smart switch is designed to fit into most mounting boxes, switches, and wall sockets. Its compact size (approximately 42x42x21mm) makes it suitable for various installations.

Before proceeding, ensure the main power supply is turned off at the circuit breaker.

Wiring Methods:

  1. Direct Light Connection: Connect the smart switch directly to the light fixture.
  2. Light and Rocker Switch Connection (Two-Way Control): Connect the smart switch to both the light fixture and a mechanical rocker switch. This allows for both smart control and manual control via the existing switch.

Note: The smart switch can only be used with mechanical rocker switches, not electronic rocker switches.

After wiring, carefully place the smart switch into the cassette and secure the cover.

4.2 App Installation and Device Pairing

The smart switch works with the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app.

  1. Download the "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" app from your smartphone's app store (available on iOS and Android).
  2. Register or log in to your account.
  3. Add Device:
    Six-step guide on how to add a device to the Smart Life app. Steps include logging in, adding a device, selecting 'Breaker (WiFi)', connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, and confirming successful addition.

    • Open the app and tap "Add Device" or the "+" icon.
    • Select "Breaker (WiFi)" from the device list.
    • Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Enter your Wi-Fi password.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to put the device into pairing mode.
  4. Pairing Mode: There are three ways to put the device into pairing mode:

    1. Long press the manual button on the switch for 5 seconds.
    2. Turn the connected rocker switch ON/OFF six times.
    3. Turn the power supply to the switch ON/OFF six times.
    The device will buzz "DI DI DI..." and the LED light will flash quickly, indicating it's in pairing status.
  5. Confirm the device is added successfully in the app.

5. Operation

5.1 App Control

Once paired, you can control your connected lights or appliances remotely using the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app from anywhere at any time. No hub is required.

5.2 Voice Control

The smart switch is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant. Link your Smart Life/Tuya Smart account to your voice assistant app (Alexa or Google Home) to enable voice commands.

Example commands:

  • "Alexa, turn on the light!"

5.3 Timing and Scheduling

Utilize the timing function within the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to create schedules for automatically turning your home appliances or lights ON/OFF. This helps in saving energy and reducing electricity costs.

5.4 Group Control

Group multiple smart switches together in the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to control them simultaneously with a single tap on your smartphone.

5.5 Smart Scenes

Create custom smart scenes within the app to automate your home based on various conditions such as departure mode, home mode, temperature, humidity, or other environmental triggers.

5.6 Relay Status Setting

Configure the relay status in the app to define how the switch behaves after a power outage. You can set it to restore its last state (ON/OFF) or default to a specific state.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and dry.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Contact customer support if issues arise.
  • Regularly check for firmware updates in the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to ensure optimal performance and security.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. 5GHz networks are not supported.
  • Confirm the device is in pairing mode (LED flashing quickly, buzzing sound).
  • Move the device closer to your Wi-Fi router.
  • Reset the device and try pairing again (see Section 4.2).
Voice control not working
  • Ensure your Smart Life/Tuya Smart account is correctly linked to Alexa or Google Home.
  • Check your internet connection.
  • Verify the device name in the app matches the name used in voice commands.
Device offline in app
  • Check your Wi-Fi connection and router.
  • Ensure the device has power.
  • Restart the device by turning off and on its power supply.
Manual switch not working after installation
  • Verify the wiring is correct for two-way control.
  • Ensure you are using a mechanical rocker switch, not an electronic one.

8. User Tips

  • For optimal performance, ensure your Wi-Fi signal is strong in the area where the switch is installed.
  • When setting up schedules, consider daily routines to maximize energy savings and convenience.
  • Utilize the device sharing function to allow family members to control smart devices without needing to share your main account credentials.
  • If you experience connectivity issues, try restarting your Wi-Fi router before resetting the smart switch.
