3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Physical Installation
The CF-WA860 is designed for pole mounting. Follow these steps for physical installation:
- Use 4 screws to install the L-shaped metal bracket onto the metal back panel of the device.
- Place the pole between the two securing clips and the two U-shaped clips, then fix it with screws.

3.2 Initial Configuration Access
To access the device's settings page for initial configuration, follow these steps:
- Set your computer to obtain an IP address automatically.
- Connect the AP's LAN port to your computer.
- Power on the device and wait for approximately 90 seconds for it to start up.
- Connect to the device's wireless SSID. The default SSIDs are
COMFAST_XXXX_2GandCOMFAST_XXXX_5G, where XXXX represents the last 4 digits of the device's MAC address. - Open a web browser on your computer and input
192.168.10.1into the address bar to access the setting page. - On the login page, use the default username
adminand default passwordadmin. - You can select the device language (Chinese or English) using the icon in the top right corner.
4. Operating Modes
The CF-WA860 supports four main working modes: AP Mode, Bridge Mode, Router Mode, and Repeater Mode. You can select the desired mode in the setup wizard.
4.1 AP Mode
In AP Mode, the device acts as an access point, extending your existing wired network wirelessly. You can configure the 2.4G/5.8G wireless SSID, password, channel, and country. After setup, connect the device's WAN port or POE adapter LAN port to the internet, and other mobile devices can connect to the configured SSID to access the internet.
- IP Address Configuration: The AP needs an intranet IP address. Do not set it to be the same as the upper router's IP address. If you wish to manage the device, manually set the IP address within the same network segment as your intranet.
- DHCP: In AP mode, IP addresses for connected devices will be allocated by the upper network router.
4.2 Bridge Mode
Bridge Mode allows the AP to connect wirelessly to another AP (the upper network) and extend its network. Ensure that WDS (Wireless Distribution System) is enabled on your upper network. You can set up an intranet segment for the AP (ensure its IP address is not the same as the upper router). Select the wireless SSID signal you wish to bridge (distinguishing between 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz) and enter the wireless password. The password must be the same as your upper network router's password.
4.3 Repeater Mode
In Repeater Mode, the AP extends the range of an existing wireless network. You can set the internal network segment (the gateway IP should not be the same as the upper device gateway IP). Select the wireless SSID signal you need to relay (distinguish between 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz) and input the wireless password. The password must be the same as your upper network router's password.
4.4 Router Mode
Router Mode allows the device to function as a primary router, connecting directly to your internet service. It supports various internet connection types including PPPOE, Static IP, and DHCP. Refer to the device's advanced settings for detailed router configuration.

7. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
7.1 General Troubleshooting Tips
- No Internet Access: Ensure the AP's WAN port or POE adapter LAN port is correctly connected to an active internet source. Verify that the IP address and subnet mask are within the same network segment as your upper network and do not conflict with the upper router's IP.
- Cannot Access Settings Page: Double-check that your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically and is connected to the AP's LAN port or its wireless SSID. Ensure you are using the correct default IP (192.168.10.1) and login credentials (admin/admin).
- Weak Signal/Poor Performance: Check antenna orientation and ensure there are no major obstructions. Consider the placement of the AP to maximize coverage.
- Repeater/Bridge Mode Connectivity: Confirm that the wireless password entered for these modes matches the upper network router's password exactly.
7.2 User Tips
- Optimal Placement: For best 360-degree coverage, mount the AP in a central, elevated location free from major obstructions.
- Regular Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website (www.szcomfast.com) periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Network Security: Always change the default admin password immediately after initial setup to prevent unauthorized access. Use strong, unique passwords for your Wi-Fi networks.
- Unified Management: For large deployments, utilize the AC Management feature to simplify configuration and maintenance of multiple APs.
