5. Installation and Setup
5.1 Mounting the Unit
Before selecting where to install, consider the following points:
- Do not mount the inverter on flammable construction materials.
- Mount on a solid surface.
- Install this inverter at eye level to allow the LCD display to be read at all times.
- For proper air circulation to dissipate heat, allow a clearance of approx. 20 cm to the side and approx. 50 cm above and below the unit.
- The recommended installation position is to be adhered to the wall vertically.
- Be sure to keep other objects and surfaces as shown in the diagram to guarantee sufficient heat dissipation and to have enough space for removing wires.

5.2 Rear Panel Connections
The rear panel of the inverter provides various connection ports for power input, output, and communication. Refer to the diagram below for identification:

Figure 6: Rear Panel Connections
- Power on/off switch
- AC input
- Main output
- Second output (available on SMH-III models)
- PV input
- Battery communication/RS-485 port
- WIFI communication/RS-232 port

5.3 Solar Panel (PV) Connection
When selecting proper PV modules, please be sure to consider the following parameters:
- Open circuit voltage (Voc) of PV modules not exceeds max. PV array open circuit voltage of inverter.
- Open circuit Voltage (Voc) of PV modules should be higher than min. battery voltage.
Connecting in series will increase the voltage. This voltage needs to be between our PV voltage range (60~450VDC for SMH-II models, 60~500VDC for SMH-III models). Please check the open circuit voltage of your solar panels first. Ensure the total power of solar panels does not exceed the maximum power of the inverter.

Figure 8: Battery Connection Diagrams
5.5 System Diagram
The inverter can operate in various modes depending on the availability of solar power, AC utility power, and battery connection. The diagrams below illustrate common system configurations and operation scenarios.

Figure 9: General System Diagram

Figure 10: System Operation Scenarios
- Operation with battery connected: The inverter can seamlessly switch between solar, battery, and utility power to supply home appliances.
- Operation without battery connected: For SMH-III models, the inverter can supply power directly from solar panels or utility grid.
6. Operation
6.1 Pure Sine Wave Output
The EASUN Hybrid Solar Inverter provides a pure sine wave output, which is identical to the waveform of the grid. This ensures high-quality AC power with higher efficiency, stable output, and high compatibility with various loads, including sensitive electronics.

Figure 11: Pure Sine Wave Output and Compatible Appliances
6.2 Monitoring and Control via SmartESS App
The inverter supports WiFi and GPRS communication, allowing you to monitor and control your system remotely using the SmartESS App on iOS and Android devices. To enable WiFi monitoring, ensure option 05 on the inverter's LCD settings is set to "USING", then connect the WiFi module.

7. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your EASUN Hybrid Solar Inverter, regular maintenance is recommended:
- Keep the inverter clean and free from dust. The built-in anti-dust kit helps, but periodic external cleaning is beneficial.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Regularly check that air vents are not blocked.
- Periodically inspect all wiring connections for tightness and signs of corrosion.
- Monitor the LCD display for any warning or fault indicators and address them promptly.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your inverter, refer to the LED indicators and LCD display for diagnostic messages. Common issues and general troubleshooting steps are provided below:
Common Issues:
- No Power: Check the power on/off switch, AC input connection, and battery connection. Ensure batteries are charged.
- Fault Indicator (Red Solid On): A fault has occurred. Refer to the inverter's specific fault codes (if available in the full manual) or contact support.
- Warning Indicator (Red Flashing): A warning condition exists. This could be due to high temperature, low battery voltage, or other non-critical issues. Check environmental conditions and battery status.
- No Solar Charging: Verify PV panel connections, ensure PV voltage is within the MPPT operating range, and check for shading on panels.
- Inverter Not Supplying Load: Check if the load exceeds the inverter's rated power or surge power. Ensure batteries are adequately charged if operating in battery mode.
For detailed troubleshooting, consult the complete user manual or contact EASUN POWER customer support.
9. User Tips
- Battery-less Operation: The SMH-III 4.2KW model can operate without batteries, but ensure the PV input voltage exceeds at least 160V for stable operation. SMH-II 3.2KW and 2.2KW models require a connected battery to function.
- WiFi Monitoring: Remember to set option 05 on the LCD display to "USING" to enable WiFi monitoring via the SmartESS App.
- Optimizing Battery Life: Utilize the intelligent battery charger design by configuring settings via the LCD to match your battery type and usage patterns for extended battery lifespan.
