6. Calibration

Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your Smart Pool Monitor. Calibration solutions for pH and ORP are included in your package.

6.1 pH Calibration

The first calibration point must be 7.00 pH. The order of calibration depends on the item you measure: Acidic 7.00-4.00pH, Alkaline 7.00-10.01pH. If you are not sure about the acidity and alkalinity of the item, you can calibrate three points: 7.00-4.00-10.01pH or 7.00-10.01-4.00pH.

  1. Open the protective cover of the probe. Rinse the probe with purified water.
  2. Put the meter into the 7.00 pH solution. Shake gently and wait until the reading is stable.
  3. Press "CAL" on the Tuya Smart App.
  4. Complete pH Calibration.

6.2 ORP/CL Calibration

  1. Pour the 222mV calibration solution into a cup with a large opening.
  2. Put the ORP probe into the 222mV calibration solution.
  3. Press "CAL" on the Tuya Smart App.
  4. Press "-" or "+" on the Tuya Smart App until the value is "222".
  5. Complete ORP Calibration.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Charging

The device supports both solar and USB charging. The solar panel helps replenish power during use, extending battery life. For initial charging or when the battery is completely depleted, USB charging is recommended for faster and more reliable power-up.

7.2 General Care

  • Keep the probe clean by rinsing with purified water after each calibration or when readings appear inconsistent.
  • Store the monitor in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Ensure the protective cover is on the probe when storing.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Common Issues and Solutions

Q: Why is the residual chlorine (CL) value always showing "0.0 mg/L"?
A: For the residual chlorine value to be displayed normally, the pool pH value should be within 6.5-8.0 and the ORP value should be within 487-840mV. If either of these values is outside its recommended range, the chlorine reading may not display correctly.
Q: Why can't I connect to Wi-Fi?
A: Ensure both the Zigbee Gateway and your mobile phone are connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
Q: The solar charging shows an abnormal power level or takes too long to charge.
A: Solar charging is primarily for maintaining power during use. If the product has no power, it is recommended to use USB charging for a full charge. Solar charging alone will take a long time to fully charge a depleted battery.

10. User Tips

  • Optimal Charging: For initial setup or when the battery is low, prioritize USB charging over solar charging to ensure a quick and stable power-up. Solar charging is best for maintaining power during continuous use.
  • Probe Protection: While the device is waterproof, it's recommended to avoid fully immersing the entire product, especially the solar charging panel, for extended periods. Ensure the monitor floats correctly.
  • Regular Calibration: Calibrate the pH and ORP sensors every 2-4 weeks using the provided buffer solutions to maintain measurement accuracy.
  • Chlorine Readings: If you observe a '0.0 mg/L' chlorine reading, first check that your pool's pH is between 6.5-8.0 and ORP is between 487-840mV, as these parameters directly influence chlorine detection.
  • Smart Home Integration: The device is designed to work with the Tuya/Smart Life app via its dedicated Zigbee Gateway. Compatibility with third-party Zigbee platforms like ZigBee2Mqtt is not officially supported or guaranteed by the manufacturer.

11. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Why is the chlorine value always showing "0.0 mg/L"?
A1: Ensure the pool pH value is within 6.5-8.0 and the ORP value is within 487-840mV. If these conditions are met, the residual chlorine value should display normally. If any of these two values is out of range, the chlorine reading may not be displayed correctly.
Q2: Does the device support multi-user access?
A2: Yes, multiple users can access the device and view data in real-time via the Tuya/Smart Life app by adding family accounts.
Q3: How often should I calibrate the device?
A3: For best results and accurate readings, it is recommended to calibrate the device every 2–4 weeks using the included calibration solutions.
Q4: Can the monitor work with saltwater pools?
A4: Yes, the device is specifically designed for both saltwater and chlorine pools and accurately measures salinity (Salt in ppm).
Q5: Is the device waterproof and floatable?
A5: Yes, it features a floating waterproof design with an IP68 rating, making it ideal for all pool environments.
Q6: Does it work with ZigBee2Mqtt?
A6: The device is designed to work with the Tuya/Smart Life app via its dedicated Zigbee Gateway. Compatibility with third-party Zigbee platforms like ZigBee2Mqtt is not officially supported or guaranteed by the manufacturer.
