5.3 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection

The NCV function allows for safe detection of AC voltage without direct contact.

  • Hold the tester near the wire or outlet.
  • The device will indicate voltage presence with sound and light alerts.
  • A weak electric field signal will result in a slow buzzer sound and a "---U" display.
  • A strong electric field signal will result in a quick buzzer sound and a "---HI" display.
Diagram illustrating NCV detection for Null and Live wires. For Null wire, screen displays '---U' and buzzer sounds slowly. For Live wire, screen displays '---HI' and buzzer sounds quickly.

5.4 Breakpoint Detection

This function helps locate breaks in live wires.

  • Place the probe along the insulated wire.
  • The tester will indicate the presence of voltage up to the breakpoint.
  • The absence of a signal indicates a break in the wire.
