Introduction

The VTech Retro Phone B Wireless Phone combines classic retro design with modern digital communication technology. This cordless phone features DECT 6.0 technology, a digital answering machine, and an illuminated display and keypad. Setup Guide

1. Connecting the Base Unit

  1. Connect one end of the line cable to the telephone wall jack and the other end to the LINE port on the back of the communication base.
  2. Plug the Bivolt power supply into an electrical outlet and connect the other end to the POWER port on the back of the communication base.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure.

2. Installing the Handset Battery

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the monophone (handset).
  2. Insert the rechargeable battery pack, ensuring the polarity matches the markings inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3. Initial Charging

  1. Place the monophone (handset) on the communication base.
  2. Allow the handset to charge for at least 12-16 hours before its first use to ensure optimal battery performance. The battery indicator on the handset display will show charging status.

Operating Instructions

Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Lift the handset from the base, wait for a dial tone, and dial the number. Alternatively, dial the number first and then press the call button.
  • To Receive a Call: When the phone rings, lift the handset from the base or press the call button on the handset.
  • Speakerphone: During a call, press the speakerphone button on the handset to activate hands-free communication.

Digital Answering Machine

The integrated digital answering machine can store up to 59 messages, with a total recording time of 14 minutes.

  • Turning On/Off: Use the 'ANS ON/OFF' button on the base unit's control panel to activate or deactivate the answering machine.
  • Message Playback: Use the playback controls (play/pause, skip forward/backward) on the base unit to listen to messages. The display will show the number of new messages.
  • Remote Access: You can access your messages remotely by calling your phone number from an external line and entering your security code (refer to the full user manual for setting up remote access).
  • New Message Notifications: The base unit provides visual notifications for new messages.

  • ANS ON/OFF: Activates or deactivates the answering machine.
  • PAGE: Used to locate a misplaced handset by making it ring.
  • VOL - / VOL +: Adjusts the speaker volume during playback or speakerphone calls.
  • Message Counter: Digital display showing the number of messages.
  • Call Button: Initiates or answers a call.

  • Playback Controls: Buttons for playing, pausing, skipping, and deleting messages.

Troubleshooting

  • No Dial Tone:
    • Ensure the line cable is securely connected to both the phone base and the wall jack.
    • Check if other phones on the same line are working.
    • Verify the power adapter is correctly plugged into the base and a working electrical outlet.
  • Cannot Make/Receive Calls:
    • Check if the handset battery is charged.
    • Ensure the handset is within range of the base unit.
    • Confirm the phone line is active.
  • Answering Machine Not Recording/Playing Messages:
    • Ensure the answering machine is turned ON (ANS ON/OFF button).
    • Check if the memory is full. Delete old messages if necessary.
    • Verify the date and time settings are correct.
  • Handset Not Charging:
    • Ensure the handset is correctly seated on the charging cradle of the base unit.
    • Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth.
    • Check the power supply connection to the base.
