1. Introduction
The TASI TA804A and TA804B are advanced, ultrathin digital multimeters designed for accurate and reliable electrical measurements. Featuring an HD color display and smart automatic recognition, these multimeters simplify testing for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. They are capable of measuring AC/DC voltage, resistance, capacitance (TA804B only), frequency, diode, and continuity, along with non-contact voltage (NCV) detection and live wire identification. The TA804B model offers additional manual operation capabilities and a VA color screen.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or personal injury, please read and understand all safety information before using this product.
- Always ensure the test leads are properly connected and in good condition before use.
- Do not apply more than the rated voltage, which is MAX 600V CAT III 600V.
- Never use the multimeter if it appears damaged or if the test leads are damaged.
- Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Always disconnect power to the circuit under test before measuring resistance, capacitance, or continuity.
- Replace the battery immediately when the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings.
- Do not operate the multimeter in explosive gas, vapor, or dusty environments.

5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
- Ensure the multimeter is powered off.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device (refer to Figure 2).
- Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert one AAA battery, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.
5.2. Connecting Test Leads
- Insert the black test lead into the 'COM' (Common) input jack.
- Insert the red test lead into the 'INPUT' jack for most measurements (voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode, continuity).
- Ensure the connections are firm and secure.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Power On/Off
Press the power button (⏻) to turn the multimeter on. Press and hold the power button to turn it off. The device features an automatic shut-down function to conserve battery life, which can be manually cancelled if needed.
6.2. Automatic/Manual Mode (TA804B Only)
The TA804B model supports both automatic and manual measurement modes. Press the 'SMART FUNC' button to switch between these modes. In automatic mode, the multimeter intelligently identifies the measurement type (voltage, resistance, continuity) and selects the appropriate range. In manual mode, you can select specific functions.

6.3. Voltage Measurement (AC/DC)
- Connect the red test lead to the 'INPUT' jack and the black test lead to the 'COM' jack.
- Power on the multimeter. The device will automatically enter voltage measurement mode (or select it manually on TA804B).
- Place the test probes across the circuit or component you wish to measure.
- Read the voltage value and type (AC or DC) on the display.

6.4. Resistance Measurement
- Ensure the circuit under test is de-energized.
- Connect the test leads as described in Section 5.2.
- Power on the multimeter. The device will automatically enter resistance measurement mode (or select it manually on TA804B).
- Place the test probes across the component to measure its resistance.
- Read the resistance value in Ohms (Ω) on the display.
6.5. NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Sensing
- Press the 'Live NCV' button to activate NCV mode.
- Move the top edge of the multimeter close to the wire or outlet you want to test.
- The device will indicate the presence of AC voltage through a buzzer and an analog bar display on the screen. The number of segments on the bar will increase with stronger signals.

6.6. Live Wire Identification
- Press the 'Live NCV' button to activate Live Wire mode.
- Insert the red test probe into the live wire socket or touch it to the live wire.
- The display will show 'Live' or a similar indication, and the analog bar will light up.
- When testing the null wire, the display will show 'Null' or no indication.

6.7. Data Hold
Press the 'HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release the hold function and resume live measurements.
6.8. Flashlight
The multimeter is equipped with a flashlight for working in dimly lit areas. The flashlight button is typically located on the side or top of the device. Press it once to turn on, and again to turn off.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the multimeter casing with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the AAA battery as described in Section 5.1.
- Test Leads: Regularly inspect test leads for any signs of damage (cracks, frayed insulation). Replace damaged leads immediately.
- Storage: Store the multimeter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if the device will not be used for an extended period.
8. Troubleshooting
- Display shows 'OL'
- This indicates an 'Over Range' condition. The measured value exceeds the maximum range of the multimeter for the selected function. Check your connections or switch to a higher range if available (TA804B manual mode).
- No display or faint display
- Check the battery. The battery may be dead or low. Replace the AAA battery as per Section 5.1.
- Inaccurate readings
- Ensure test leads are properly connected and not damaged. Check battery level. Ensure you are using the correct measurement mode for the task.
- Multimeter does not turn on
- Check battery installation and ensure the battery has sufficient charge. If the issue persists, contact support.
9. User Tips
- For quick checks, the automatic mode (TA804A and TA804B) is highly convenient as it eliminates the need to manually select ranges.
- Utilize the NCV function for a preliminary safety check before touching any wires, as it can detect live voltage without direct contact.
- The flashlight is particularly useful when working in dark electrical panels or confined spaces.
- Always double-check your connections and selected mode before taking critical measurements.
