6. Operating Modes

The KAIWEETS EXPLORER X I features 6 professional detection modes. Press the MODE button to cycle through them:

  • 6.1. All Metal Mode (A-M)

In this mode, the detector will respond to all types of metal targets. It is ideal for general searching when you want to find any metallic object.

  • 6.2. Disc Mode

Discrimination mode allows you to eliminate certain types of unwanted metals. The detector will not respond to the eliminated targets. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the discrimination level.

  • 6.3. Notch Mode

Notch mode enables you to customize the removal of specific unwanted metal targets. Press MODE to select NOTCH, then use the '+' or '-' buttons to select the target to be notched. The cursor around the selected target will flash, and the target name inside the cursor will disappear, indicating it's excluded from detection.

  • 6.4. Memory Mode

In Memory mode, the detector will only respond to a specific type of metal that you have previously memorized. This is useful for searching for a particular type of treasure.

7. General Operation

Once you have selected your desired detection mode, hold the detector with the search coil parallel to the ground and sweep it slowly from side to side. Listen for audio signals and observe the LCD display for target identification and depth information.

  • Sensitivity Adjustment: Adjust the SENS level based on ground conditions. Lower sensitivity for highly mineralized ground to reduce false signals; higher sensitivity for clear ground to detect deeper targets.
  • Target Identification: The LCD will display icons representing different metal types (Fe, Ni, Al, Zn, Ag, Gold, Silver) and a Target ID number to help identify the detected object.
  • Depth Indication: The display also shows an estimated depth of the detected target.
  • Underwater Detection: The 11.8" IP68 waterproof search coil allows for detection in shallow water. However, remember that the control box is NOT waterproof and must be kept dry.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the detector with a damp cloth. Ensure the search coil is free of dirt and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Control Box: Keep the control box dry at all times. If it gets wet, dry it immediately.
  • Storage: Store the metal detector in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the battery indicator on the LCD shows low power. Always use fresh 9V batteries.

9. Troubleshooting

No Power:
Check if batteries are correctly installed and fully charged. Replace if necessary.
False Signals/Chattering:
Reduce sensitivity (SENS). Ensure you are not near other electronic devices or power lines. Perform ground balancing. Avoid sweeping the coil too fast.
Detector Not Responding to Metal:
Ensure the detector is in 'All Metal Mode' or a mode that includes the target metal. Check sensitivity settings. Ensure the search coil cable is securely connected.
Inaccurate Target ID:
This can occur with highly corroded objects, multiple targets close together, or deeply buried items. Try sweeping from different angles.
