4.2 Connecting to a Computer
Connect the MD44 to your computer using the USB 2.0 port on the rear panel. This connection provides both power and data transfer for recording and playback.
4.3 Audio Input Connections
The MD44 features four combo XLR/TRS inputs (1L, 2R, 3L, 4R) on the front panel. These inputs are suitable for microphones, guitars, and other line-level instruments.
- Microphones: Connect XLR cables from your microphones to the combo inputs.
- Instruments: Connect 1/4-inch TRS or TS cables from your instruments to the combo inputs.
- Phantom Power: For condenser microphones requiring 48V phantom power, activate the '+48V' buttons for the respective input pairs (1-2 or 3-4).
4.4 Audio Output Connections
The MD44 provides multiple output options:
- Main Output: Use the 'MAIN OUT' L/R jacks on the rear panel to connect to studio monitors or a PA system.
- Monitor Output: Use the 'MONITOR OUT' L/R jacks on the rear panel for additional monitoring.
- Headphone Outputs: Two 1/4-inch headphone jacks are available on the front panel for real-time monitoring.

5. Operation
5.1 Input Gain Adjustment
Use the 'GAIN 1' through 'GAIN 4' knobs to adjust the input level for each channel. Ensure the signal is strong enough without clipping (distortion).
5.2 Monitoring
The MD44 supports real-time monitoring. Connect headphones to the front panel jacks. Use the dedicated headphone volume knobs to adjust the listening level. The 'MON' knob controls the monitor mix.

5.3 Mix Control
The 'MIX' knob allows you to blend the direct input signal ('INPUT') with the playback signal from your computer ('DAW'). This is crucial for zero-latency monitoring during recording.
5.4 Effects (FX) Adjustment
The 'FX' knob provides self-reverberation adjustment, simulating various scene effects. Turn the knob to apply and adjust the effect to your audio.

5.5 Main Output Level
Adjust the 'MAIN OUT' knob to control the overall output volume to your studio monitors or PA system.
5.6 Recording
Once connected to your computer, the MD44 will appear as an audio device in your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software. Select it as your input and output device to begin recording. The 4-channel design is versatile for various recording scenarios.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: Store the audio interface in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting
7.1 No Sound Output
- Check all cable connections (USB, main out, headphones).
- Ensure the MD44 is selected as the output device in your computer's sound settings and DAW.
- Verify that the 'MAIN OUT' and headphone volume knobs are turned up.
- Check the 'MIX' knob position; if it's fully towards 'INPUT', you might not hear DAW playback.
7.2 No Input Signal
- Ensure your microphone or instrument is properly connected to the correct input channel.
- Check the 'GAIN' knob for the respective channel and turn it up.
- For condenser microphones, ensure the '+48V' phantom power is activated for the correct input pair.
- Verify that the MD44 is selected as the input device in your computer's sound settings and DAW.
7.3 Device Not Recognized by Computer
- Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB port on your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Ensure the USB cable is not damaged.
- Check for any necessary drivers (though many modern audio interfaces are class-compliant).
8. User Tips
- For optimal recording quality, always monitor your input levels carefully to avoid clipping.
- Experiment with the 'FX' knob to find the right reverberation for your vocal or instrument tracks.
- Utilize the 'MIX' knob to balance your live input with your DAW's playback for comfortable monitoring during overdubbing.
