2.3 Initial Charging

Before first use, ensure the device is fully charged. Connect the provided charger to the Type C USB port on the device and to a power outlet. The status indicator will show charging progress. A full charge typically takes several hours.

3.1 OTDR Testing Modes

3.1.1 Auto OTDR Mode

This mode simplifies fiber testing, making it accessible even for untrained technicians. With a single touch, the device automatically:

  • Performs link recognition.
  • Sets optimal testing parameters.
  • Launches multiple acquisitions and analyses across various wavelengths.
  • Consolidates results for each link section and network element.

Results can be exported to a single report for easy analysis.

3.1.2 Expert OTDR Mode (Manual Testing)

For experienced users requiring precise control, the Expert OTDR mode allows manual parameter configuration. Follow these steps:

  1. Select 'Expert OTDR' from the main interface.
  2. Adjust parameters such as wavelength (1310nm, 1550nm), test range, pulse width, and test time as needed.
  3. Initiate the test. The device will display the OTDR trace curve, providing detailed information about the fiber link.

3.2 Event Map / Graphical Analysis

The Event Map mode provides a simplified, graphical representation of the fiber optic network. It uses intelligent algorithms to dynamically locate and identify all network components and fault locations with maximum resolution. This visual aid helps engineers quickly understand the network topology and pinpoint issues.

3.3 Integrated Functions

The SS304T-2A1 combines several tools to streamline your work:

  • Optical Power Meter (OPM): Measures optical power from 850nm to 1650nm with a range of -50 to +26dB. Select the OPM icon and connect the fiber to the OPM port.
  • Visual Fault Locator (VFL): Emits a 650nm red laser light for visual fault location up to 10km. Useful for identifying breaks, bends, or faulty connectors. Select the VFL icon and connect the fiber to the VFL port.
  • Optical Light Source (OLS): Provides stable light sources at 1310nm and 1550nm (≥-5dBm/CW, 270Hz, 330Hz, 1kHz, and 2kHz). Used for optical loss testing. Select the OLS icon and connect the fiber to the OLS port.
  • Optical Loss Test (OFLT): Measures optical loss at 1310nm and 1550nm. Requires both OLS and OPM functions.
  • RJ45 Cable Tracker: Used to track RJ45 cables over 300m. Connect the main unit to one end of the RJ45 cable and the remote module to the other end.

3.4 Data Storage and Management

The device can store up to 300,000 groups of curve data (8GB internal storage). Test results can be saved in SOR format. Use the 'File Management' option on the main interface to access, review, and manage stored data.

3.5 Language Settings

The device supports multiple languages. Navigate to the 'System' settings to change the interface language to English, Russian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, or German.

  • RJ45 Cable Tracker Not Working: Verify both the main unit and the remote module are correctly connected to the RJ45 cable ends. Ensure the function is selected on the device.
