1. Introduction
The ATOMSTACK R8 Laser Rotary Roller Jaw Chuck is an advanced accessory designed to expand the capabilities of your laser engraver. It allows for precise engraving on a wide variety of cylindrical and irregularly shaped objects that would otherwise be impossible to process on a flat engraving bed. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your R8 rotary roller to ensure optimal performance and safety.

2. Product Overview
The ATOMSTACK R8 rotary roller is engineered for versatility and ease of use, offering several key features to enhance your engraving projects:
- Enhanced Usage Scenarios: The R8 can securely hold various irregularly shaped items, including cups, spheres, and rings, unlocking new engraving possibilities beyond just flat surfaces.
- Smart Recognition: Equipped with a built-in recognition chip, the R8 seamlessly integrates with AtomStack Studio, eliminating the need for manual parameter adjustments. It is also fully compatible with LightBurn software.
- Expandable Design: The innovative design supports longer items, overcoming the limitations of standard chucks with elongated objects. When the weight of the item is within the bearable range, it can support the processing of 1-meter-long items.
- Plug-and-Play: No complex installation is required. Simply connect the R8 via USB for easy connectivity and user-friendly operation.
- Sturdy and Safe: Crafted from high-quality aluminum alloy and high-hardness brass, the R8 ensures enhanced durability and stability during operation.

The R8 supports dual wiring modes: USB connection and Motor Cable connection, depending on your laser engraver model.

USB Cable Connection:
For models like P1 (MINI), K2 (KRAFT), L1, and K60 (HURRICANE), simply connect the R8 to your laser engraver via the provided USB cable. The system will automatically enter roller processing mode.
Motor Cable Connection:
For a wider range of Atomstack machines, including A6 PRO, A12 PRO, A24 PRO, A48 PRO, A12 ULTRA, A24 ULTRA, A48 ULTRA, A5 PRO V2, A10 PRO V2, A20 PRO V2, A5 PRO V2 BLACK, A10 PRO V2 BLACK, M30, A5 M40, A5 M50, A5 M50 PRO, A5 PRO, A5 PRO+, A10, A10 PRO, A20, A20 PRO, A30 PRO, A40 PRO, A40 MAX, A70 PRO, A70 MAX, P7 M30, P7 M40, P9 M40, P9 M50, and all other Atomstack machines, use the motor connection cable. Older frame models may require the old motor cable for compatibility, which is included in the package.
4.2 Attaching Fixtures
Select the appropriate jaws (L-shaped, Ladder, or Hexagonal) and threaded cylindrical pins based on the shape and size of the object you intend to engrave. Securely attach them to the chuck main unit to hold your material firmly.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Placing the Object
Carefully place the object to be engraved into the R8 chuck, ensuring it is centered and securely held by the chosen fixtures. The R8 offers 30° elevation and 180° horizontal rotation, allowing you to adjust the angle to suit different materials and achieve optimal engraving results.

5.2 Software Integration
Once connected, the R8's built-in recognition chip integrates seamlessly with AtomStack Studio and LightBurn. The software should automatically detect the rotary roller and enter the appropriate processing mode. This eliminates the need for manual parameter adjustments, streamlining your workflow.
5.3 Engraving Long Items
The R8 features an exclusive extended support design that can accommodate extra-long items. For objects up to 1 meter in length, ensure the weight is within the R8's load capacity for stable processing.

5.4 Starting the Engraving Process
Follow your laser engraver's software instructions to set up your design and initiate the engraving process. Always ensure proper ventilation and safety precautions are in place when operating a laser engraver.
6. Compatibility
The ATOMSTACK R8 is designed for wide compatibility:
- AtomStack Machines: Fully compatible with all Atomstack machines, including the Hurricane model.
- Other Brands: Supports 95% of other brands' laser engravers.
- Software: Seamlessly integrates with AtomStack Studio and is fully compatible with LightBurn.

7. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ATOMSTACK R8, follow these general maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the chuck and its components to remove dust, debris, and engraving residue. Use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the materials.
- Lubrication: Periodically check moving parts for smooth operation. If necessary, apply a small amount of light machine oil to ensure smooth rotation of the chuck and jaws.
- Inspection: Inspect all parts for wear and tear, especially the jaws and pins. Replace any damaged components to maintain secure gripping of objects.
- Storage: When not in use, store the R8 in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your ATOMSTACK R8, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Connection Issues: Ensure all cables (USB or motor cable) are securely connected to both the R8 and your laser engraver. Try a different USB port or cable if issues persist.
- Software Recognition: If the software does not recognize the R8, restart both the software and your laser engraver. Verify that you have the latest drivers and software versions installed.
- Object Slippage: Ensure the object is properly secured with the correct jaws and pins for its shape. Adjust the grip firmly but without excessive force that could damage the object.
- Engraving Inaccuracies: Check that the object is perfectly centered and level within the chuck. Use the included mini level meter for precise alignment. Ensure your software settings for rotary engraving are correctly configured.
- Motor Not Rotating: Check the power connection to the R8. If using a motor cable, ensure it is compatible with your engraver model as per the compatibility section.
