4. Setup and Installation

The wireless design of this system simplifies installation. Follow these steps for proper setup:

4.1 Camera Installation

  1. Choose a Mounting Location: Select a suitable location at the rear of your vehicle (truck, trailer, bus) that provides a clear view of the area behind. Ensure the camera is mounted securely.
  2. Mount the Camera: Use the provided screw kit to securely attach the camera bracket to the chosen location. The camera requires drilling for mounting.
  3. Connect Power to Camera: The camera requires a 12V-36V DC power supply. Connect the camera's power cable to a suitable power source on your vehicle. The red wire should connect to the positive (+) terminal, and the black wire to the negative (-) terminal. For reversing assistance, it is recommended to connect the camera's power to the vehicle's reverse light circuit so it activates automatically when reversing.
  4. Attach Antenna: Screw the wireless antenna onto the camera's antenna port.

4.2 Monitor Installation

  1. Mount the Monitor: Use the universal mount with the adhesive pad to secure the 7-inch monitor on your dashboard or another convenient viewing area inside the vehicle.
  2. Connect Power to Monitor: Plug the monitor's power cable into the provided cigarette lighter adapter, and then insert the adapter into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. Alternatively, the monitor can be hardwired to a 12V-36V DC power source (red wire to positive, black wire to negative).
  3. Attach Antenna: Screw the wireless antenna onto the monitor's antenna port.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your LeeKooLuu Wireless Backup Camera system, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning the Camera Lens: Regularly clean the camera lens with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, or water spots that may obstruct the view. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Cleaning the Monitor Screen: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the monitor screen. For stubborn smudges, a screen cleaner designed for electronics can be used.
  • Check Connections: Periodically inspect all power connections to the camera and monitor to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
  • Weather Protection: Although the camera is IP68 waterproof, extreme weather conditions (e.g., heavy snow, ice buildup) can temporarily affect performance. Ensure the lens is clear before use.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No image on monitor No power to monitor or camera; camera/monitor not paired; antenna loose. Check power connections for both units. Ensure antennas are securely attached. If issues persist, try re-pairing (refer to user manual for specific steps).
Image flickers or is unstable Weak signal; interference; loose connections. Ensure camera and monitor antennas are clear of obstructions. Check power and antenna connections. Avoid placing other wireless devices too close to the system.
Camera turns on then off repeatedly Insufficient or unstable power supply to the camera. Verify the camera's power connection is stable and receiving adequate voltage (12V-36V). Check for loose wires or faulty fuses in the power circuit.
Poor night vision quality Obstructed IR sensors; dirty lens. Clean the camera lens. Ensure nothing is blocking the infrared (IR) sensors around the lens.

8. User Tips

  • Power Compatibility: The system is designed to operate with a wide voltage range (12V-36V), making it suitable for various vehicle types, including those with 24V systems.
  • Mounting Method: The camera is designed for screw-based mounting to ensure a secure and stable installation. Magnetic mounting is not supported by the included hardware.
  • Signal Range: The digital wireless signal transmission can reach distances exceeding 320ft (approximately 97 meters), providing a stable connection for long vehicles like trucks and trailers.
