Thank you for purchasing this adapter. This user guide provides comprehensive information to maximize the utility of your adapter. We kindly request that you review the instructions diligently. It's important to note that the wireless Android Auto function only works with smartphones equipped with a built-in app and 5GHz Wi-Fi.

This adapter is designed to provide wireless CarPlay and wireless Android Auto functionality. With this adapter, you can use wireless CarPlay and Android Auto anytime, regardless of whether your phone operating system is iOS or Android. Ensure your phone meets the software version requirements for wireless interconnection.

Important Safety Instructions

Please follow these instructions carefully to actively reduce the risk of electronic shock and injury to persons or property:

  • Keep all crevices and openings of the product unblocked.
  • Do not set the product on a heating register or over a radiator.
  • Ensure that you provide proper ventilation at the installation site.
  • Do not use while standing in or nearby water (e.g., bathtubs, kitchen sinks, or swimming pools).
  • Do not use it unless your body - and especially your hands - are completely dry.
  • Never insert objects of any kind into the product vents as that may result in fire or electric shock.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosol cleaners, chemicals, or cleaning agents to clean this product.
  • Clean this product with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not disassemble this product.

If your device requires service or repair work, please contact our Support Department. Read and understand all instructions and save them for future reference. Follow all warnings and instructions as marked on the product. Save these instructions.

Compatibility

This product is suitable for models with original wired CarPlay or wired Android Auto. If your car only has wired CarPlay but not wired Android Auto, the wireless Android Auto will not work with this adapter.

How to check if your car has CarPlay/Android Auto:

  1. For CarPlay: Search for compatible models on the Apple website: https://www.apple.com/ios/CarPlay/available-models/
  2. For Android Auto: Search for compatible models on the Android website: https://www.android.com/auto/compatibility/

Phone OS Version Requirements:

  • Wireless CarPlay requires iOS 10 and above.
  • Wireless Android Auto requires Android 11 and above, equipped with 5GHz WiFi.

Setup

1. Physical Connection

Plug this adapter into the USB port of your vehicle. The port may be marked with a CarPlay car icon or a smartphone icon. The adapter features a dual-port design with both USB and Type-C connectors for easy conversion without additional cables.

2. Pairing for iPhone (CarPlay)

Before pairing with a new iPhone, please forget any previously connected Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices (e.g., factory car Bluetooth or Wi-Fi dashcamera).

  1. Turn on your iPhone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  2. Pair to the Bluetooth device named "SmartBox-xxxx" (the last four digits will vary).
  3. You will see a prompt image on your car's screen, indicating to connect your phone to the corresponding Bluetooth name.
  4. Tap "Pair-Allow-Use CarPlay" on the iPhone popup notifications.
  5. The device will connect to wireless CarPlay after a few seconds.

3. Pairing for Android (Android Auto)

Before pairing with a new Android phone, please forget any previously connected Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices (e.g., factory car Bluetooth or Wi-Fi dashcamera).

  1. Turn on your Android smartphone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  2. Pair to the Bluetooth device named "SmartBox-xxxx" (the last four digits will vary).
  3. Tap "Pair-Allow" on the Android smartphone pop-up notifications.
  4. The device will connect to wireless Android Auto after a few seconds.

Note: Because Android Auto does not have the prompt image like CarPlay, after your connected wireless Android Auto via our adapter for the first time, the prompt image will not be displayed unless you forget the current device and reconnect the CarPlay device.

Operating Instructions

Once connected, the adapter enables seamless wireless integration of CarPlay or Android Auto with your car's infotainment system. You can use various functions directly from your car's display.

Key Features:

  • Navigation: Use GPS navigation apps like Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze.
  • Music Playback: Stream music from your favorite apps such as Spotify, Apple Music, or Podcasts.
  • Hands-Free Calling: Make and receive calls safely using the car's display and microphone.
  • Voice Control: Utilize Siri (for CarPlay) or Google Assistant (for Android Auto) for voice commands.
  • Automatic Connection: After initial setup, the adapter will automatically connect to your phone when you start your car.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your adapter, clean it with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners, aerosol cleaners, chemicals, or harsh cleaning agents.

Upgrade Steps (OTA Update)

The adapter supports Over-The-Air (OTA) updates to improve performance and add new features.

Important Note:

  • Do NOT plug the adapter into the car stereo to perform the upgrade. Many car stereo USB ports may lose power during updating, which can cause adapter failure.
  • Always plug the adapter into a stable power supply source, such as a phone charger or a computer's USB port, for updates.

Procedure:

  1. Use your iPhone to connect to the adapter's Wi-Fi network. The default password is 12345678. If your phone cannot find the Wi-Fi, manually search for the adapter's Wi-Fi network, typically named "SmartBox-xxxx".
  2. On your phone's browser, enter the IP address 192.168.200.1.
  3. Tap "upgrade" if an update is available.

Troubleshooting (FAQ)

Q: What should I do if there is no response when I plug in the product?
  1. Replug the adapter.
  2. Pull out the product, then check if the original car's wired Apple CarPlay/Android Auto can be used normally.
  3. If it is still not working, please contact us to get a replacement.
Q: Can't connect automatically.
  1. Turn on your phone's Bluetooth and WLAN, and make sure both Bluetooth and WLAN are not connected to other devices. Neglect the original car Bluetooth.
  2. Replug the adapter. If it doesn't work, then forget this adapter's Bluetooth on your phone. Reboot your phone and repair the Bluetooth.
  3. If it still doesn't help, please reference the "Upgrade Steps" section to upgrade the firmware.
Q: When stuck in the connection state, and it keeps connecting, what should I do?
  1. Click settings - clear pair list, and ignore the Bluetooth pairing record on the phone, then restart your phone.
  2. Restore the factory settings of the original car.
Q: My phone can identify the product Bluetooth/WiFi, but my car does not enter the connection page.
  1. Reset the box: Use your phone to scan the QR code (if provided) or enter 192.168.200.1 on your iPhone's or Android smartphone browser. Then select "Factory reset".
  2. Restore the factory settings of your original car system.

User Tips

  • For optimal performance, ensure your phone's operating system is up-to-date (iOS 10+ for CarPlay, Android 11+ with 5GHz Wi-Fi for Android Auto).
  • If you experience connection issues, try forgetting the adapter's Bluetooth connection on your phone and re-pairing.
  • Always perform firmware updates using a stable power source (like a wall adapter or computer USB port) and not directly from the car's USB port to prevent damage.

Warranty and Support

If we repair or replace a product, the repaired or replaced product shall be warranted for the remaining time of the original warranty period. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any quality problem, you shall return the item in its original condition within 30 days of receipt and we will gladly provide a refund, replacement, or an exchange. Any items received after 30 days will not be accepted for refund. For any items received after 30 days, we will provide repair service during the warranty period.

Our warranty does NOT cover the following situations:

  • Warranty expired.
  • Damage caused by human factors, accident, misuse of the product.
  • Products purchased from unauthorized channels.
  • Unauthorized alteration to change of parts or components of the product.
  • Failure to provide a receipt or proof of purchase.
  • Malfunctions caused by phenomena such as fire, natural disasters.

For speedy processing of your warranty claim you will need:

  • Copy of the receipt showing the purchase date.
  • Reason for the claim (description of the defect).
