5. Setup Guide

5.1 Physical Connections

  1. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC 12V port on the TV Box and then plug it into a power outlet.
  2. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HD OUT port on the TV Box and the other end to an available HDMI input on your television.
  3. For satellite TV reception, connect your satellite dish cable to the LNB IN port.
  4. For terrestrial TV reception, connect your antenna cable to the ANT IN port.
  5. For a stable internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the Ethernet port on the TV Box. Alternatively, you can use Wi-Fi after initial setup.
  6. Insert batteries into the remote control, ensuring correct polarity.

5.2 Initial Power On

  1. Power on the Skylinker Z8 Plus TV Box and your television.
  2. Using your TV's remote control, select the correct HDMI input source that the TV Box is connected to.
  3. The device will boot up, and you will see the initial setup wizard on your screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure language, network settings (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), time zone, and other preferences.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Dual System Switching

The Skylinker Z8 Plus allows seamless switching between the Android operating system and the DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) system.

  • From the main menu, you can typically find icons or options to switch between the Android interface (for apps and streaming) and the DVB interface (for live TV).
  • The Android system provides a faster streaming APP operation speed.
  • The DVB-S2/T2 system allows you to enter DTV mode and search for all FTA (Free-to-Air) channels in your local area.

6.2 Android System Navigation

Use the remote control to navigate the Android 9.0 interface:

  • Use the arrow keys to move between applications and menu options.
  • Press the OK button to select an item.
  • Press the MENU button to access context-sensitive menus.
  • Press the EXIT button to go back or exit an application.
  • Access pre-installed apps like YouTube, Netflix, VLC, and the Google Play Store for more applications.

6.3 DVB-S2/T2 Channel Scanning

To receive digital TV channels:

  1. Switch to the DVB system.
  2. Navigate to the DTV Settings or Channel Scan menu.
  3. Select the appropriate tuner (DVB-S2 for satellite or DVB-T2 for terrestrial).
  4. Initiate an automatic or manual channel scan. The device will search for available Free-to-Air channels.
  5. Once the scan is complete, you can browse channels using the CH+/CH- buttons on the remote.
  6. Use the EPG button to view the Electronic Program Guide.

7. Maintenance

7.1 OTA Software Update

Regularly update your device's firmware to ensure optimal performance, new features, and bug fixes.

  1. Ensure the device is connected to the internet via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to Settings from the main menu.
  3. Select System Update.
  4. Click the "Download" option to check for new firmware.
  5. Once the download is finished, click "Upgrade Now".
  6. The TV Box will restart automatically after a successful upgrade and return to the Main Menu.

7.2 Cleaning

To clean the device, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosols, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check if the power adapter is securely connected to the device and the power outlet. Ensure the power outlet is functional.
  • No Signal (DVB): Verify that your satellite dish or terrestrial antenna cables are correctly connected to the LNB IN or ANT IN ports. Perform a channel scan in the DVB settings.
  • No Internet Connection: For wired connections, ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both the TV Box and your router. For Wi-Fi, check your network settings and ensure the correct password is entered.
  • Remote Control Not Responding: Check the batteries in the remote control and replace them if necessary. Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the TV Box's IR sensor.
  • Picture Freezing/Lagging: For streaming content, check your internet speed and stability. For DVB channels, check signal strength and quality in the DTV settings.
