1. Product Overview

The GeekMagic Smalltv-Ultra is a versatile smart device designed for desktop decoration, functioning as a WiFi weather forecast station, a bed clock, and a digital photo album with GIF animation capabilities. It features multiple themes, full-screen image and GIF display, and an extended weather forecast.

Key Features:

  • Full-screen JPG/GIF image and animation playback.
  • Supports up to 50 JPG images (totaling approximately 1MB) for photo album mode.
  • Customizable weather animations.

Important Considerations:

  • This device is compact in size and requires an external power supply.
  • It does not include internal sensors for indoor temperature detection.
  • A stable 2.4G WiFi internet connection is essential for full functionality (5G WiFi is not supported).

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Initial Power-Up

  1. Connect the provided USB cable to the device and a suitable USB power adapter (not included).
  2. Plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet. The device will power on automatically.

3.2 Connecting to WiFi

The device requires a 2.4G WiFi connection for all smart features. 5G WiFi is not supported.

  1. Upon first power-up, the device will enter setup mode, displaying an IP address or instructions to connect to its temporary WiFi hotspot.
  2. Using a mobile phone or computer, connect to the device's temporary WiFi network (SSID usually starts with "Smalltv" or similar).
  3. Open a web browser and navigate to the IP address displayed on the device (e.g., 192.168.4.1). This will open the configuration interface.
  4. In the configuration interface, navigate to the "Network" tab.
  5. Click "Scan" to find available 2.4G WiFi networks.
  6. Select your desired WiFi network from the list and enter the password.
  7. Click "SAVE". The device will attempt to connect to your home WiFi network.
  8. Once connected, the device will display its assigned IP address on your home network. You can use this IP address to access the configuration interface directly from any device on the same network.

Manual WiFi Input (for hidden networks):

  • If your WiFi network is hidden, use the "Manual Input" section to enter the SSID and password directly.

Delay WiFi Connection:

  • This setting allows you to delay the device's WiFi connection after startup. Useful if your router takes time to initialize or if the device is used in a car with slow WiFi startup.

3.3 Setting Up Weather Forecast

  1. In the configuration interface, navigate to the "Weather" tab.
  2. Set City Code:
    • Click the provided link (e.g., openweathermap.org/city/...) to find your city code.
    • Search for your city, then copy the numerical ID from the URL of the city's page.
    • Enter this city code into the "City code" field and click "SAVE".
  3. Unit Format: Select your preferred units for Wind Speed, Temperature (°C or °F), and Atmospheric pressure (hPa, inHg, mmHg). Click "SAVE".
  4. Weather API Key (Advanced): This is a professional option. Do not modify unless you understand its function.
  5. GIF in Weather Screen: You can upload a GIF file (recommended size 80x80px) to be displayed on the weather screen.

3.4 Time and Date Settings

  1. In the configuration interface, navigate to the "Time" tab.
  2. Time Number Color: Customize the display colors for hours, minutes, and seconds. Click "SAVE".
  3. 12/24 Hour Format: Choose between 12-hour or 24-hour time display. Click "SAVE".
  4. Date Format: Select your preferred date format (e.g., DD/MM/YYYY). Click "SAVE".
  5. Enable Colon Blink: Toggle the blinking colon feature.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Theme Management

The device supports multiple display themes. To manage them:

  1. In the configuration interface, navigate to the "Settings" tab.
  2. Choose Theme: Select a specific theme from the dropdown menu. Disable "Auto Switch" if you want to use a single theme manually.
  3. Auto Switch Themes: Enable this option and select the themes you wish to cycle through (e.g., Weather Clock Today, Weather Forecast, Photo Album, Time Style 1/2/3, Simple Style Weather Clock). Set the desired interval in seconds. Click "SAVE".

4.2 Digital Photo Album

The device can display your personal photos and GIFs.

  1. In the configuration interface, navigate to the "Pictures" tab.
  2. Upload Images:
    • Click "Choose..." to select JPG or GIF files from your device.
    • Important: GIF files should be resized to 240x240px before uploading for optimal display. The device supports up to 50 JPGs and a total of approximately 1MB storage for custom content.
    • Click "UPLOAD" to transfer the files to the clock.
    • Click "RELOAD" to refresh the list of uploaded pictures.
  3. Auto Display: Enable "Enable image auto display" and set the "JPG image display interval" in seconds. Click "SAVE".
  4. Picture Management: You can set a specific image to display or delete uploaded images from this section.

4.3 Brightness and Night Mode

  1. In the configuration interface, navigate to the "Settings" tab.
  2. Brightness: Adjust the display brightness using the slider (0-255). Click "SAVE".
  3. Night Mode: Enable this option to set a specific time range (Start Time, End Time) and a reduced brightness level for night hours. Click "SAVE".

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Power: Always use the provided USB cable and a compatible 5V USB power adapter.
  • Environment: Keep the device in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity.

6. Troubleshooting

8. User Tips

  • Optimal Viewing: For the best experience, place the clock within a 1-meter visual range, especially when using the photo album mode.
  • GIF Preparation: Always resize GIF animations to 240x240 pixels before uploading to ensure they display correctly and efficiently.
  • Theme Customization: Experiment with different themes and auto-switch intervals to find the display style that best suits your preference.
  • Night Mode Benefits: Utilize the night mode feature to automatically dim the screen during sleeping hours, preventing disturbance.
  • City Code Accuracy: Ensure your city code is accurate for precise weather forecasts. Double-check it on openweathermap.org if you notice discrepancies.
