5.2 Applications

The Alonefire SV114 UV flashlight is designed for various detection purposes. For optimal results, use the flashlight in a dark environment.

  • Pet Urine Detection: Shine the UV light on carpets, furniture, or floors to reveal hidden pet urine stains, which will fluoresce under UV light.
  • Ringworm Detection (Pets): Cat ringworm appears fluorescent blue under UV light, aiding in early detection.
  • Currency and Document Authentication: Verify security features on banknotes, passports, licenses, and other official documents.
  • Mineral and Ore Detection: Identify fluorescent minerals and ores.
  • Scorpion Detection: Scorpions fluoresce brightly under UV light, making them easier to spot in dark environments.
  • Leak Detection: Can be used to detect certain types of leaks when a fluorescent dye is added to the fluid.
  • Fluorescent Agent Detection: Identify fluorescent agents in cosmetics, textiles, or other materials.
  • Home Cleaning: Reveal invisible stains and residues on surfaces for thorough cleaning.

5.3 365nm vs 395nm Wavelengths

The SV114 is available in two UV wavelengths, 365nm and 395nm, each with distinct characteristics:

  • 365nm UV: Often considered "true UV" or "blacklight". It emits less visible purple light, making fluorescent materials glow more distinctly. Ideal for authenticating currency, documents, detecting certain minerals, and some pet stains. This version typically has a black lens.
  • 395nm UV: Emits more visible purple light. Effective for general pet urine detection, scorpion hunting, and revealing fluorescent dyes. This version typically has a transparent lens.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the flashlight body with a soft, dry cloth. For the lens, use a lens cleaning cloth to avoid scratches.
  • Storage: Store the flashlight in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge when the light starts to dim. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to about 50% every few months.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Flashlight does not turn on.Battery is depleted.Charge the flashlight using the provided USB-C cable.
Light is dim or flickers.Low battery.Recharge the flashlight.
Charging is not working.Faulty cable or power source.Try a different USB-C cable or a different 5V power adapter. Ensure the cable is fully inserted.
UV effect is weak.Too much ambient light.Use the flashlight in a darker environment for better results.

8. User Tips

  • For pet urine detection, the 365nm wavelength often provides a clearer, less purple glow, making stains stand out more distinctly compared to 395nm.
  • When checking currency or official documents, look for specific fluorescent threads, watermarks, or patterns that are only visible under UV light.
  • Keep the flashlight charged, especially if you plan to use it for extended periods, as the working time is approximately 1 hour.
  • Its compact size makes it easy to carry in a pocket or bag for on-the-go detection needs.
