6.1 Power Connection
- Locate the power input on the rear panel (Figure 4).
- Connect the provided power cable to the mixer and then to a suitable 220V-50Hz AC power outlet.
- Ensure the power switch (labeled '开' for ON, '关' for OFF) is in the OFF position before plugging in.
6.2 Input Connections
The PMX-402DU features 4 input channels, each with a combination XLR/TRS jack for microphones and line-level instruments.
- Microphones: Connect dynamic or condenser microphones to the XLR inputs (labeled 'MIC') on channels 1-4. If using condenser microphones, activate the +48V PHANTOM POWER switch (located near the master section) after all microphones are connected.
- Line-Level Devices: Connect instruments (e.g., keyboards, guitars with preamps) or other audio sources (e.g., CD players) to the 1/4" TRS 'LINE IN' jacks on channels 1-4.
- Tape Input: Use the 'TAPE IN' RCA jacks to connect external playback devices.
6.3 Output Connections
- Main Outputs: Connect your main speakers or power amplifier to the 'MAIN OUT' (LEFT/RIGHT) 1/4" TRS jacks.
- Speaker Outputs: For direct speaker connection, use the '喇叭输出' (Speaker Output) jacks on the rear panel (Figure 4). Ensure correct impedance matching (4Ω).
- Record Output: Use the 'REC OUT' RCA jacks to connect to a recording device.
- Headphones: Connect headphones to the 'PHONE' 1/4" jack for monitoring.
6.4 USB/MP3 Player

7.1 Powering On/Off
- Ensure all faders and gain controls are at their minimum settings.
- Flip the power switch on the rear panel to the ON position.
- To power off, reverse the process: lower all volumes, then switch off the mixer.
7.2 Channel Controls (Channels 1-4)
- TRIM (Gain): Adjusts the input sensitivity for each channel. Start low and increase until the PEAK LED flashes occasionally.
- EQ (HIGH, MID, LOW): Three-band equalizer to shape the tone of each channel.
- AUX/EFF: Sends a portion of the channel signal to the internal digital effects processor or external auxiliary send.
- PAN: Adjusts the stereo position (left to right) of the channel signal in the main mix.
- PFL (Pre-Fader Listen): Routes the channel signal to the headphones for monitoring before the channel fader.
- Channel Fader: Controls the volume level of the individual channel in the main mix.
7.3 Master Section Controls
- AUX/EFF SEND: Controls the overall level sent to the effects processor.
- DIGITAL MULTI-EFFECTS: Select and adjust various digital effects (e.g., REPEAT, DELAY) using the UP/DOWN buttons and the display.
- GRAPHIC EQUALIZER: A 5-band graphic equalizer (63Hz, 250Hz, 1KHz, 3.5KHz, 12KHz) to fine-tune the overall sound of the main mix.
- MAIN FADERS (LEFT/RIGHT): Control the overall output volume of the main stereo mix.
- MP3 VOL: Adjusts the playback volume of the built-in MP3 player.
- PHONE VOL: Adjusts the volume for the headphone output.

- Cable Care: Regularly check all cables for damage and replace them if necessary.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound output | Power off; incorrect connections; faders/gain too low; mute engaged; faulty cable. | Check power, all cable connections, increase master/channel faders, ensure no mute is active, test with different cables. |
| Distorted sound | Input gain too high; output level too high; faulty cable/speaker. | Reduce TRIM/gain controls, lower main faders, check speaker impedance, test components individually. |
| Hum or noise | Ground loop; faulty cable; interference from other electronics. | Ensure proper grounding, use balanced cables, try isolating power sources, move away from other electronic devices. |
| MP3 player not working | USB drive not inserted correctly; unsupported file format; MP3 volume too low. | Reinsert USB drive, ensure files are MP3 format, increase MP3 VOL. |
| Phantom power not working | +48V switch off; faulty condenser microphone. | Ensure +48V switch is ON, test with another condenser microphone if available. |
10. User Tips
- Always start with all volume faders and gain controls at their lowest setting before powering on to prevent sudden loud noises.
- When setting gain, gradually increase the TRIM control until the PEAK indicator light on the channel flashes only occasionally. This ensures a strong signal without distortion.
- Experiment with the digital effects to find the best sound for your application. The 'REPEAT' and 'DELAY' functions can add depth to vocals or instruments.
- Utilize the graphic equalizer to tailor the overall sound to your room acoustics or personal preference.
