6. Setup Guide

Before connecting any equipment, ensure the mixer and all audio devices are powered off and their volume controls are set to minimum.

6.1 Power Connection

  1. Locate the power input on the rear panel (Figure 4).
  2. Connect the provided power cable to the mixer and then to a suitable 220V-50Hz AC power outlet.
  3. Ensure the power switch (labeled '开' for ON, '关' for OFF) is in the OFF position before plugging in.

6.2 Input Connections

The PMX-402DU features 4 input channels, each with a combination XLR/TRS jack for microphones and line-level instruments.

  1. Microphones: Connect dynamic or condenser microphones to the XLR inputs (labeled 'MIC') on channels 1-4. If using condenser microphones, activate the +48V PHANTOM POWER switch (located near the master section) after all microphones are connected.
  2. Line-Level Devices: Connect instruments (e.g., keyboards, guitars with preamps) or other audio sources (e.g., CD players) to the 1/4" TRS 'LINE IN' jacks on channels 1-4.
  3. Tape Input: Use the 'TAPE IN' RCA jacks to connect external playback devices.

6.3 Output Connections

  1. Main Outputs: Connect your main speakers or power amplifier to the 'MAIN OUT' (LEFT/RIGHT) 1/4" TRS jacks.
  2. Speaker Outputs: For direct speaker connection, use the '喇叭输出' (Speaker Output) jacks on the rear panel (Figure 4). Ensure correct impedance matching (4Ω).
  3. Record Output: Use the 'REC OUT' RCA jacks to connect to a recording device.
  4. Headphones: Connect headphones to the 'PHONE' 1/4" jack for monitoring.

6.4 USB/MP3 Player

Insert a USB drive containing MP3 audio files into the 'USB' port in the MP3 MUSIC PLAYER section.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Powering On/Off

  1. Ensure all faders and gain controls are at their minimum settings.
  2. Flip the power switch on the rear panel to the ON position.
  3. To power off, reverse the process: lower all volumes, then switch off the mixer.

7.2 Channel Controls (Channels 1-4)

  • TRIM (Gain): Adjusts the input sensitivity for each channel. Start low and increase until the PEAK LED flashes occasionally.
  • EQ (HIGH, MID, LOW): Three-band equalizer to shape the tone of each channel.
  • AUX/EFF: Sends a portion of the channel signal to the internal digital effects processor or external auxiliary send.
  • PAN: Adjusts the stereo position (left to right) of the channel signal in the main mix.
  • PFL (Pre-Fader Listen): Routes the channel signal to the headphones for monitoring before the channel fader.
  • Channel Fader: Controls the volume level of the individual channel in the main mix.

7.3 Master Section Controls

  • AUX/EFF SEND: Controls the overall level sent to the effects processor.
  • DIGITAL MULTI-EFFECTS: Select and adjust various digital effects (e.g., REPEAT, DELAY) using the UP/DOWN buttons and the display.
  • GRAPHIC EQUALIZER: A 5-band graphic equalizer (63Hz, 250Hz, 1KHz, 3.5KHz, 12KHz) to fine-tune the overall sound of the main mix.
  • MAIN FADERS (LEFT/RIGHT): Control the overall output volume of the main stereo mix.
  • MP3 VOL: Adjusts the playback volume of the built-in MP3 player.
  • PHONE VOL: Adjusts the volume for the headphone output.
  • +48V PHANTOM POWER: Activates phantom power for condenser microphones.

7.4 MP3 Music Player Operation

Once a USB drive is inserted:

  • PLAY/PAUSE: Starts or pauses playback.
  • STOP: Stops playback.
  • PREVIOUS/NEXT: Navigates between tracks.
  • MODE: Switches between different playback modes (e.g., repeat all, repeat one).
  • REC: Initiates recording to the USB drive (if supported and configured).

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the mixer. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation grilles are free from dust and obstructions.
  • Storage: Store the mixer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Cable Care: Regularly check all cables for damage and replace them if necessary.

  • Utilize the graphic equalizer to tailor the overall sound to your room acoustics or personal preference.

The Lane PMX-402DU comes with a 12-month warranty period from the date of purchase. During this period, if the product exhibits defects due to manufacturing faults, it will be repaired or replaced according to the terms below:

  • Customers are responsible for shipping defective products back to the service center, prepaid by express.
  • Upon receipt, repairs will be completed within 7 days.
  • The repaired or replacement product will be returned to the customer at our cost.
