Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Locate the battery cover on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery cover latch (if present) or gently pry open the cover.
- Insert the Li-ion battery pack into the compartment, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
- Replace the battery cover and secure it.

2. Charging the Battery
Before initial use, fully charge the battery. The PT88E supports Type-C charging.
- Connect the USB charging cable to the charging base.
- Place the radio (with battery installed) into the charging base, ensuring proper contact.
- Alternatively, the battery itself features a Type-C charging port for direct charging. Connect a Type-C USB cable to the battery.
- The LED indicator on the radio or charging base will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).

3. Attaching the Antenna
Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is firmly seated.
4. Attaching the Belt Clip
Align the belt clip with the screw holes on the back of the radio and secure it with the provided screws.
5. Connecting Earbuds
Insert the earbud's 2-pin plug into the External Speaker/Mic jack on the side of the radio. Ensure it is fully inserted for proper audio and microphone function.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment
- To power on the radio, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click.
- To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.
- To adjust the volume, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to increase and counter-clockwise to decrease.
2. Channel Selection
Rotate the Encoder knob (located next to the Power/Volume knob) to select one of the 16 available channels. Ensure all radios in your group are set to the same channel for communication.

3. Transmitting and Receiving
- To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button. Speak clearly into the microphone (built-in or earbud mic) at a normal speaking volume, holding the radio approximately 2-5 cm from your mouth. The LED indicator will typically glow red. Release the PTT button when you finish speaking.
- To Receive: Ensure the PTT button is not pressed. The radio is automatically in receive mode. The LED indicator will typically glow green when a signal is received.
4. Using Side Keys (Programmable Functions)
The Side Key 1 and Side Key 2 are typically programmable. By default, Side Key 1 is often assigned to the Flashlight function.
- Flashlight: Press Side Key 1 to turn the flashlight on or off.
