Maintenance

Cleaning the Keyboard

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the keycaps and keyboard surface.
  • For stubborn dirt between keys, use compressed air to blow out debris.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the keyboard.

The K681 PRO features hot-swappable switches, allowing you to easily replace switches without soldering.

Figure 8: Hot-Swappable Switch Replacement Steps
  1. Pull out the keycap: Use the provided keycap puller to gently remove the keycap from the switch you wish to replace.
  2. Unplug the switch: Use the switch puller tool to grasp the top and bottom clips of the switch. Gently pull the switch straight up and out of the PCB.
  3. Install a new switch: Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  4. Press in the switch: Gently press the new switch down until it clicks into place. Ensure it is seated firmly and evenly.
  5. Install the keycap: Place the keycap back onto the new switch.

The keyboard is compatible with most 3-pin/5-pin mechanical switches.

Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding in wireless mode: Ensure the keyboard is charged, the 2.4G receiver is properly plugged in, or Bluetooth is correctly paired. Check the mode switch on the keyboard.
  • Bluetooth connection issues: Make sure the keyboard is in Bluetooth mode (BT1 or BT2) and in pairing mode (FN+Q/W flashing). Remove previous pairings on your device and try re-pairing. Ensure your device's Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Backlight not working or dim: Check the backlight brightness settings using FN+↑ (Up Arrow) or the knob. If the battery is low (below 3.3V), the backlight will automatically turn off. Charge the keyboard.
  • Keys not registering: If a specific key is not working, try replacing its switch using the hot-swappable feature. If multiple keys or the entire keyboard is unresponsive, try connecting via wired mode to rule out wireless issues.
  • Unexpected behavior: Try resetting the keyboard (if a reset function is available, consult the manufacturer's website or support). Ensure the keyboard's firmware is up to date.
  • Knob not adjusting volume/backlight: Ensure the knob is in the correct mode (volume or backlight). Press and hold the knob to switch between modes.
