1. Introduction

The MAXTO M2S is a state-of-the-art Bluetooth helmet intercom system designed for motorcycle riders. It enables seamless communication among up to 6 riders, offers music sharing, FM radio, voice control, and connectivity with multiple devices like smartphones and GPS. Built with IP67 waterproof rating and advanced noise reduction, the M2S ensures clear and reliable communication in various riding conditions.

2. Packing List

Before proceeding with the installation, please verify that all items listed below are present in your package:

3. Setup and Installation

The MAXTO M2S can be installed using either a clamp or a VELCRO sticker, suitable for various helmet types including full face, half face, flip-up, off-road, rally, and retro helmets.

3.1. Fixed by Clamp

  1. Loosen the screws on the back of the clamp using the provided screwdriver.
  2. Open the helmet lining, insert the clamp in the proper position on the left side of the helmet, and fasten the screw.
  3. Slide the back track of the device into the clamping track.
  4. Open the inner lining on the ear position of the helmet and attach the VELCRO loop.
  5. Attach the Headphone Velcro hook to the loop (the short-line speaker is on the left).
  6. Place the butterfly sticker in the right position on the left side of the helmet, match the microphone with the mouth position, and tidy up the line and lining.
  7. Insert the plug into the headset socket to complete the installation.

3.2. Fixed by VELCRO Sticker

  1. Slide the back track of the device into the clamping track.
  2. Tear off the white paper on the back of the clamp and stick it in the right position on the left side of the helmet.
  3. For ear speakers & microphone installation, refer to step 3.1.

3.3. Disassembly of the Device

  1. Pull out the headset plug.
  2. Press the upper clamp buckle and move the device upward to remove it.

4. Operating Instructions

The MAXTO M2S features intuitive controls and voice prompts for ease of use.

4.1. Button Operation Introduction

The device includes an On/Off Button, a Multi-function Button, and a Knob for various operations.

On/Off Button:

  • Turn on: When the headset is off, press and hold for 3 seconds. A "Welcome to use Maxto Product" sound prompt will be heard, and the blue light will be on for 1 second.
  • Turn off: When the headset is on, press and hold for 5 seconds. A "Power Off" sound prompt will be heard, and the red light will be on for 1 second.
  • Pairing: When the headset is off, press and hold for 6 seconds. A "Pairing" sound prompt will be heard, and blue and red lights will flash alternately.
  • Clear pairing device: When the headset is on, press and hold the button for 3 seconds after hearing the "power off" sound prompt until the red light quickly flashes 3 times and a "toot" sound prompt is heard.
  • Start Bluetooth Intercom: When paired, press once. An "Intercom Connected" sound prompt will confirm connection. Press again to disconnect, then again to reconnect.
  • End Bluetooth Intercom: Shortly press the button. An "Intercom disconnected" sound prompt will be heard.

Multi-function Button:

  • Pairing: When the headset is on, press and hold for 6 seconds. A "Pairing" sound prompt will be heard, and blue and red lights will flash alternately.
  • Answering a call: When connected and there is an incoming call, click it once or take no action for 10 seconds. The call will be automatically answered with a "Dong, Dong" sound prompt.
  • Rejection of call: If there is a call, press and hold for 2 seconds. The call will be rejected with a "Dong, Dong" sound prompt.
  • Voice switching between Bluetooth headset and mobile phone: During a call, press and hold for 2 seconds. A "Dong" sound prompt will be heard, and the red light will flash every other second.
  • End a call: During the call, click it once. A "Dong" sound prompt will be heard.
  • Voice dialing: If not on a call, click it twice. A "Voice Dial" sound prompt will be heard.
  • Music Play/Pause: When connected, click it once.
  • Switch between Bluetooth and FM: When the headset is on, triple-click it. A "Bluetooth mode" or "FM mode" sound prompt will be heard.

Knob:

  • Turn up the volume: On a call, intercom, playing music or FM, turn the knob clockwise and hold it to increase volume until it reaches the maximum level. A "toot" prompt will be heard at maximum volume.
  • Turn down the volume: On a call, intercom, playing music or FM, turn the knob counter-clockwise and hold it to decrease volume until it reaches the minimum level. A "toot" prompt will be heard at minimum volume.
  • Play the next: When playing music or FM, turn the knob clockwise.
  • Play the previous: When playing music or FM, turn the knob counter-clockwise.

4.2. Bluetooth Status Indication and Prompt

  • Power on status: If Bluetooth is connected, a "Bluetooth connected" sound prompt is heard, and the blue indicator light flashes once every 6 seconds. If Bluetooth is not connected, a "Bluetooth disconnected" sound prompt is heard, and the blue indicator light flashes twice every 6 seconds.
  • Low power alarm: The "Battery Low" sound is prompted every 60 seconds when the power is turned on, and the indicator light turns to red flashing.
  • Charging state: Red light is on when charging. Red light is off when charging is completed.
  • Battery status sound prompt when powered on: If the battery is full, the "Battery Full" sound is prompted. If the battery is low, the "Battery Low" sound is prompted.

4.3. Pairing Methods

4.3.1. Two ways for M2S to enter paired state:

Mode 1: When the headset is off, press and hold the On/Off Button for 6 seconds.

Mode 2: When the headset is on, press and hold the Multi-function Button for 6 seconds.

In both modes, a "Pairing" sound prompt will be heard, and blue and red lights will flash alternately.

4.3.2. Pairing with any Bluetooth headset:

  1. Place the M2S and the device within a visible range of 1 meter.
  2. Turn on the device's Bluetooth.
  3. Follow step 4.3.1, M2S enters pairing status.
  4. Quickly press the M2S On/Off button. It will search for the device for pairing. An "intercom connected" sound prompt means the connection is successful.

Note 1: The intercom connection must be initiated by the M2S.

Note 2: To disconnect the intercom, press the M2S On/Off button, then press again to reconnect.

4.3.3. Pairing with Mobile, GPS, and MP3:

  1. Place the M2S and the device within a visible range of 1 meter.
  2. Follow step 4.3.1, M2S enters pairing status.
  3. Turn on the device's Bluetooth, search for M2S, and connect. The "connected" sound prompt means the connection is successful.

4.3.4. Pairing between two M2S units:

  1. Ensure both M2S units are off and within 1 meter visible range of each other.
  2. Follow step 4.3.1, both M2S units are paired.
  3. Quickly press the On/Off button on either M2S. It will search for the other M2S for pairing. An "intercom connected" sound prompt means the connection is successful.

4.3.5. Group Intercom Settings (Up to 6 Riders):

The MAXTO M2S supports group intercom for up to 6 riders with a range of 2000 meters.
  1. Clear matching record between A and F: Press and hold the On/Off buttons of units A and F for 6 seconds until you hear "power off", then hold for another 3 seconds.
  2. Match units in series: Refer to the pairing operations in section 4.3.4 for the following connections:
    • Match A and B
    • Match B and C
    • Match C and D
    • Match D and E
    • Match E and F
  3. Connect A, B, C, D, E, and F in series:
    • For D, press the On/Off button to connect with E.
    • For C, press the On/Off button to connect with D.
    • For B, press the On/Off button to connect with C.
    • For A, press the On/Off button to connect with B.

Units E and F are not disconnected after step 2 is completed. Now A, B, C, D, E, and F are all matched successfully, and you can enter group intercom.

Note: During a 6-person group intercom, if unit D receives a call, D will be temporarily disconnected from the group. A, B, and C will form a group, and E and F will form a group. After D's call is over, D will be automatically reconnected into the group intercom, and the 6-person group intercom resumes.

Important: When a non-Maxto device is connected to the mobile phone first and then looped into M2S multi-person intercom, it may cause intercom communication errors. If not connected to a mobile phone, this error will not occur.

4.4. Priority of Functions

The MAXTO M2S prioritizes functions as follows:

  1. Phone call & Intercom by introduced adapter
  2. Intercom introduced by Two-way radio cable
  3. Bluetooth Intercom
  4. FM & Music

5. Maintenance and Care

Proper care ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MAXTO M2S intercom.

  • Storage Temperature: The appropriate storage temperature for this device is between -20°C and 50°C. Avoid storing it in environments with excessively high or low temperatures, as this can affect its service life.
  • Avoid Open Flame: Do not expose the device to open flames to prevent explosion.
  • Long-term Storage: If the device will not be used for a long period, store it in a dry place and charge it regularly (once every 3 months) to ensure it works properly when needed.
  • Waterproof: The device is IP67 waterproof, cold resistant, dustproof, and sunscreen. However, avoid submerging it for extended periods.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MAXTO M2S, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Device not turning on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source using the USB cable and check if the red charging light appears.
  • Cannot pair with other devices:
    • Ensure the M2S is in pairing mode (blue and red lights flashing alternately).
    • Make sure the other device's Bluetooth is enabled and discoverable.
    • Clear previous pairing records on the M2S (refer to section 4.1) and attempt pairing again.
    • Ensure both devices are within 1 meter range during pairing.
  • Intercom connection issues:
    • Verify that all M2S units are properly paired according to the group intercom settings (section 4.3.5).
    • If a unit receives a phone call during group intercom, it will temporarily disconnect. It should automatically reconnect after the call.
    • Avoid connecting non-Maxto devices to a mobile phone first and then looping them into M2S multi-person intercom, as this can cause communication errors.
  • No sound or poor sound quality:
    • Check the volume level using the knob.
    • Ensure the microphone and ear speakers are correctly connected and positioned within the helmet.
    • Verify that the device is not in FM mode if you expect Bluetooth audio.
    • The device features intelligent noise reduction; ensure it's functioning correctly in noisy environments.
  • Battery draining quickly: Ensure the device is fully charged. If the issue persists, it might indicate a battery degradation. Refer to the warranty section for support.
