3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Control Panel Overview
This image focuses on the flash's control panel and LCD display, showing various settings like ISO, aperture, and zoom level.
- PILOT Button: Test flash button. Press to fire a test flash.
- MODE Button: Cycles through flash modes (TTL, M, MULTI, S1, S2).
- ZOOM Button: Adjusts the flash coverage (zoom) manually.
- ON/OFF Button: Powers the unit on or off.
- SET Button: Confirms selections or enters sub-menus.
- Directional Buttons (Up/Down/Left/Right): Navigate menus and adjust values.
3.2 Flash Modes
- TTL (Through-The-Lens) Mode:
- The flash automatically determines the optimal light output based on the camera's metering system. Ideal for quick and accurate exposures.
- M (Manual) Mode:
- Allows manual adjustment of flash power output (e.g., 1/1 to 1/128). Use directional buttons to change power levels.
- MULTI (Strobe) Mode:
- Fires a series of rapid flashes during a single exposure, creating a stroboscopic effect. Adjustable parameters include flash frequency, number of flashes, and power output.
- S1 Mode (Optical Slave):
- The flash fires in response to the first flash from a master flash unit. Suitable for use with manual or TTL master flashes that do not pre-flash.
- S2 Mode (Pre-flash Cancel Slave):
- The flash fires in response to the second flash from a master flash unit, ignoring the pre-flash used for TTL metering. Ideal for use with TTL master flashes.
3.3 Advanced Features
- FEC (Flash Exposure Compensation): Adjusts the flash output relative to the TTL metering. Use directional buttons to set compensation values.
- AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing): Not directly controlled by the flash, but the flash supports camera's AEB function for varied exposures.
- Manual Zoom: Press the ZOOM button and use directional buttons to manually set the flash coverage (e.g., 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 85mm, 105mm).
- Auto Zoom: The flash automatically adjusts its zoom head to match the focal length of the lens.
- Front and Rear Curtain Synchronization: Supports both front and rear curtain sync modes, typically set via the camera's menu.
- Vertical and Horizontal Rotation: The flash head can be rotated vertically from 0-90 degrees and horizontally from 0-270 degrees for bounce flash.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the flash unit.
- For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution.
- Do not use strong solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Keep the flash tube and sensor clean and free of dust. Use a blower brush if necessary.
4.2 Storage
- When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Store the flash unit in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Use the provided protective bag to prevent scratches and dust accumulation.
This image shows a close-up of the flash head, including its diffuser, and the protective bag provided for storage and transport.
5. Troubleshooting
- Flash does not fire: Check if the flash is powered on. Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and have sufficient charge. Verify the flash is securely mounted to the camera's hot shoe. Check camera settings to ensure external flash is enabled.
- Incorrect exposure (too dark/too bright): In TTL mode, adjust Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC) on the flash or camera. In Manual mode, adjust the flash power output. Check camera's ISO and aperture settings.
- Flash does not sync with camera: Ensure the flash is fully seated in the hot shoe. Check camera's sync speed settings.
- Flash overheats: Continuous rapid firing can cause overheating. Allow the flash to cool down. The flash may have a built-in thermal protection that temporarily disables firing.

8. User Tips
- Bounce Flash: Utilize the swivel and tilt head to bounce flash off ceilings or walls for softer, more natural-looking light, reducing harsh shadows.
- Diffusers: For even softer light, especially when shooting directly, consider using an external diffuser or the built-in wide panel if available.
- Recycle Time: Allow sufficient recycle time between flashes, especially at full power, to prevent overheating and ensure consistent performance.
- Battery Life: Always carry spare AA batteries, especially for extended shooting sessions, as flash units can consume power quickly.
- Experiment with Modes: Don't be afraid to experiment with different flash modes (TTL, Manual, S1/S2) to understand how they affect your images in various lighting conditions.
