4.2 DPF Functions

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is an exhaust aftertreatment device that traps particulate matter. The TS710 provides comprehensive DPF functions to manage and maintain your vehicle's DPF system.

Detailed illustration of DPF Regeneration process and related maintenance services including real-time monitoring, forced/manual/active regeneration, DPF health check, ABS bleeding, and service reset.

The TS710 supports:

  • Active (Auto) Regeneration
  • Passive Regeneration
  • DPF related information reset
  • DPR state reset
  • Forced DPR regeneration
  • Differential pressure test
  • DPD forced regeneration

Understanding DPF Regeneration:

  • Passive Regen: Occurs naturally during long drives at high speeds (20-30 minutes at 70mph or above), where exhaust temperatures are high enough to burn off soot particles.
  • Active Regen: Initiated by the vehicle's ECU when soot levels reach a certain threshold (e.g., 45% of DPF capacity). This involves post-combustion fuel injection to increase exhaust temperature and burn off soot.
  • Duration: A DPF regeneration cycle typically takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

4.3 Bi-directional Control / Active Test

The bi-directional control feature allows the TS710 to send commands to vehicle systems and components to test their operational status, helping to precisely locate issues.
