5.3 Moisture Detection

  1. After powering on, select the appropriate brake oil type (DOT3, DOT4, or DOT5.1) using the Function Key.
  2. Ensure the metal probe is clean before testing.
  3. Fully immerse the metal part of the detection head into the brake fluid you wish to test. Hold it for approximately 3 seconds until the display stabilizes.
  4. Observe the display and read the numerical value. The device provides a three-color backlight indication and an audio-visual alarm based on moisture content:
    • 0-2% Moisture: Green backlight. Brake fluid is still usable.
    • 2-3% Moisture: Yellow backlight with a slow beep. Brake fluid replacement is recommended.
    • >3% Moisture: Red backlight with a fast beep. Urgent brake fluid replacement is required.

6.3 Calibration Resistor Socket

The device includes a built-in calibration resistor socket. By inserting the probes into this socket, you can simulate different measurement environments to verify the detector's measuring accuracy.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Device does not power on. Low or dead batteries; incorrect battery installation. Replace batteries with new 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
Inaccurate readings. Dirty, corroded, scratched, or broken probe; insufficient immersion of probe; incorrect brake fluid type selected. Clean the probe thoroughly and ensure it is dry. Ensure the probe is fully immersed for 3 seconds. Verify the correct brake fluid type (DOT3/DOT4/DOT5.1) is selected. If probe is damaged, seek repair.
Screen does not display. Device damaged; extreme environmental conditions. Do not use if damaged. Ensure operation within specified temperature range (0~40°C).
Auto power off too quickly. Low battery voltage (below 2.4V). Replace batteries.
