Follow these steps to properly install your AZDOME PG17 Pro Dash Cam:
3.1. Mirror Dash Cam Installation
- **Install the rubber straps**: Secure the mirror dash cam to your existing rearview mirror using the provided rubber straps.
- **Insert the Type-C cable**: Connect the Type-C power cable to the dash cam.
- **Route the power cable**: Carefully tuck the power cable along the top edge of the windshield, down the A-pillar, and along the dashboard to the car's cigarette lighter socket. Use the pry tool to hide the cable neatly.
- **Connect the car charger**: Plug the car charger into the cigarette lighter socket.
3.2. GPS Module Installation
- **Install GPS module**: Connect the GPS module to the designated port on the dash cam.
- **Route the GPS cable**: Hide the GPS module cable along the windshield, similar to the power cable, ensuring it is securely placed.
3.3. Rear Camera Installation
- **Insert rear camera cable**: Connect the rear camera cable to the main mirror dash cam unit. Before proceeding, ensure the provided cable is long enough to reach the desired rear camera mounting location in your car.
- **Route the rear camera cable**: Guide the rear camera cable along the roofline, down the C-pillar, and towards the rear of the vehicle. Use the pry tool to tuck the cable neatly under the trim.
- **Separate cables**: At the rear of the vehicle, separate the rear camera and power cables.
- **Connect to reversing light**: Route the red trigger wire from the rear camera power cord to the positive wire of the reversing light. Use a multimeter to test the reverse light connector and identify the positive power wire. After confirming, use wire strippers to peel off the insulation and connect the red trigger wire. Secure the connection with insulating tape.
- **Thread power cable**: Thread the power cable out from the license plate light hole or a self-punched hole.
- **Reconnect docking wire**: Reconnect the docking wire between the rear camera and the power cable.
- **Mount rear camera**: Mount the rear camera above the license plate frame using the adhesive or screws provided.
- **Tuck excess cable**: Tuck any excess rear cable back into the trunk through the license plate light hole or self-drilled hole. Sort out and secure the remaining cables.
- **Adjust angle**: Adjust the rear camera recording angle and check whether the reversing image is clear on the dash cam display.
- **Restore trim**: Finally, restore any previously removed trunk lid panels or trim.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Recording Features
- **Dual Recording**: Captures ultra-clear 3840×2160P@30fps from the front camera and 2560×1440P@30fps from the rear camera simultaneously.
- **Dual HDR**: Ensures sharp details in both bright and dark areas, crucial for capturing license plates and road signs day or night.
- **Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 Night Vision**: The 7-layer glass lens and advanced sensor capture significantly more light, providing daylight-like clarity even in low-light conditions.
- **Loop-Cycle Recording**: Automatically overwrites the oldest footage when the memory card is full, ensuring continuous recording.
- **G-Sensor**: Detects sudden movements or collisions and automatically locks the current video footage to prevent it from being overwritten.
- **Parking Monitor**: Provides surveillance when your vehicle is parked (requires hardwire kit, sold separately, or continuous power supply).
4.2. Connectivity and App Usage
- **5GHz WiFi**: Connect your smartphone to the dash cam via 5GHz WiFi for faster file transfers (up to 10MB/s).
- **AZDOME App**: Download the official AZDOME app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. The app allows you to view, download, and categorize videos by type using a timeline function.

5. Maintenance
- **Cleaning Lenses**: Regularly clean the front and rear camera lenses with the provided cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear recordings.
- **SD Card Care**: Format the SD card periodically (e.g., once a month) to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Use a Class 10 or higher speed micro SD card, up to 256GB.
- **Firmware Updates**: Keep your device updated with the latest firmware via the AZDOME app for improved functionality and bug fixes.
- **Storage**: Store the dash cam in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
6. Troubleshooting
- Q: What does the anti-glare film included with the dash cam do?
- A: It reduces harsh headlight glare from vehicles behind you. If you prefer a clear mirror view, you can peel off the film and switch to Screen Saver Mode – the camera will continue recording while functioning as your rearview mirror.
- Q: Is this a wireless camera?
- A: The PG17 Pro is NOT a wireless dashcam. It requires two connections: 1) a power cable to the car charger (5V/3A for stable performance) and 2) a connection to the rear camera. For reverse assist functionality, the rear camera’s red wire needs to be connected to the vehicle's reverse light circuit.
- Q: Can the mirror straps be replaced with an OEM mirror arm?
- A: Yes, the mirror straps can be replaced with an OEM mirror arm if desired.

8. User Tips
- **Anti-Glare Film**: The included anti-glare film helps reduce harsh headlight glare. If you prefer a clear mirror view, you can remove the film and use the Screen Saver Mode, which keeps the camera recording while the screen acts as a regular rearview mirror.
- **Power Connection**: Ensure a stable power supply (5V/3A) from the car charger for optimal performance. The dash cam is not wireless and requires both power and rear camera connections.
- **Rear Camera Wiring**: For the reverse assist feature to function, the red trigger wire of the rear camera must be correctly connected to your vehicle's reverse light positive wire.
