1. Introduction

The Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 2 is an advanced smart doorbell and security camera system designed to enhance your home security. It features a 3MP HD camera with a 180° wide-angle lens, 940nm infrared night vision for clear visibility in low light, a 5-inch 720P HD indoor display, two-way audio communication, and AI-powered human detection and face recognition. With its long-lasting 8000mAh battery and integration with the Mijia APP, it provides comprehensive monitoring and convenient interaction with visitors.

4.1 Pre-Installation Checks

Before installation, ensure your door meets the following requirements:

• Door Thickness: 35-110mm
• Cat Eye Aperture (Hole Diameter): 15-40mm

This product is not suitable for double-layer doors, doors with small windows or steel mesh, or soft bag doors. If your door does not have a cat eye hole, you will need to drill one. No professional installation is required; users can install it themselves.

4.2 App Download and Server Selection

The Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 2 connects via Wi-Fi (2.4GHz band only) through the Mijia APP. Download the Mijia APP using the QR codes below:

Important: When adding the camera in the Mijia APP settings, please select 'Mainland China' as the server. Servers from other countries are not supported. The app supports multiple languages, including English and Russian, regardless of the server choice.

4.3 Installation Procedure

1. Remove the Original Cat Eye:
   • Secure the original cat eye from the outside of the door.
   • Rotate the cat's eye from the inside of the door and remove it.
   • Tip: Ensure the door panel has suitable cat eye holes. Select the correct screw length based on your door's thickness (refer to the table below).

2. Install the Cat Eye Camera:
   • Select the appropriate screw based on your door's thickness. Screw it into the screw hole of the cat eye camera for about 5mm.
   • Pass the screw and wire through the door panel. Ensure the cat eye camera is straight and the doorbell button is at the bottom.
   • Peel off the adhesive backing and firmly attach the camera to the door.

   

3. Install the Card Holder:
   • Remove the booth (indoor display unit) from the cat-eye display.
   • Remove the baffle plate on the booth.
   • Push the cable connector into the buckle at the bottom of the booth.
   • Pass the screw from the cat eye camera through the screw hole on the booth.
4. Secure the Booth:
   • Adjust the card so that the screw is securely stuck to the top of the screw hole.
   • Tighten the remaining part of the screw to fix the card.
   • Arrange the wiring neatly and install the shielding plate.

   

5. Install the Indoor Display:
   • Align the slide on the card seat.
   • Slide the cat eye display into the card seat from top to bottom.
   • Ensure the buckle on the card seat is completely embedded at the bottom of the cat eye display.
   • To remove the display, push it up from the bottom of the booth.

5.1 Key Features

• 180° Wide-Angle View: The super wide-angle lens provides a broad field of view, minimizing blind spots outside your door for comprehensive monitoring.



• 940nm Infrared Night Vision: Equipped with 940nm infrared fill light, the camera provides clear images even in complete darkness, without visible red light, ensuring discreet monitoring.



• 3MP HD Camera with HDR: Captures rich details with 2048 x 1536 resolution. HDR support ensures clear picture quality even in backlit conditions.





• 5-inch 720P HD Indoor Display: The large LCD screen with tempered glass provides a clear view of visitors. When someone rings the doorbell, the picture automatically displays, making it convenient for all household members.



• Two-Way Voice Intercom: Initiate video calls through the Mijia APP to communicate with visitors. Features include voice change function for privacy, quick reply options (e.g., "express please leave at the door"), and customizable voice replies.



• AI Humanoid Detection & Face Recognition: Built-in dual PIR human infrared sensors provide 180° lateral coverage, triggering video recording when people approach. Three-speed detection sensitivity can be adjusted. Intelligent AI face recognition is also supported (may require cloud storage services).



• Cloud & Local Storage: Supports 16GB-256GB microSD card expansion for local storage and includes 3 days of free cloud storage. Disconnection videos are saved locally, and both cloud and microSD card videos can be viewed via the Mijia APP.



• Smart Home Integration: Supports Xiaomi HyperOS Connect and can be linked with Xiaomi screen smart speakers (e.g., Mi Xiaoai Touch screen Speaker Pro 8, Redmi Xiaoai Touch Screen Speaker 8, Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 10, TV Mijia version above 2.6.9 Mi TV) for voice control and event projection. Ensure connected devices are updated to the latest version.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Charging

Use the provided charging cable to connect to the Type-C port on the side of the cat's eye indoor display unit for charging. Ensure the cable is inserted correctly. Do not attempt to insert a charging cable into the bottom strip cable connector, as this is not a charging port.

6.2 Battery Life

The device is equipped with an 8000mAh large-capacity battery. Battery life varies based on usage:

• Long Life Mode: Approximately 300 days (when triggering video or pressing the doorbell, low power consumption).
• Real-time View Mode: Approximately 150 days (can view live broadcast at any time, high power consumption).

The actual battery life is influenced by factors such as the number of triggered video recordings per day, the duration of real-time viewing, ambient temperature, and network environment.

7. Troubleshooting

• Cannot connect to the app / App not working correctly: Ensure you have selected 'Mainland China' as the server in the Mijia APP settings. This product is a Chinese version and requires this server setting for full functionality.
• SD card not recognized or recording issues: Make sure your microSD card is Class 10 or higher and has a capacity between 16GB and 256GB.
• Poor night vision quality: Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from obstructions. Verify that the 940nm infrared fill light is functioning.
• Intermittent Wi-Fi connection: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. This device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi. Check the distance between the device and your Wi-Fi router.

8. User Tips

• Server Selection is Crucial: As noted by other users, always select 'Mainland China' as your server in the Mijia app for proper device functionality, even if the app itself supports your local language.
• SD Card Quality Matters: For reliable video recording and storage, use a high-quality Class 10 microSD card.
• Check Door Compatibility: Before purchasing or installing, double-check your door's thickness and existing cat eye aperture to ensure compatibility and avoid unnecessary modifications.
