6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your access control keypad, please follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the surface of the keypad. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish or electronic components.
  • Waterproof Rating: While the device is IP67 waterproof, prolonged submersion or exposure to high-pressure water jets is not recommended. Ensure the back cover is securely fastened after installation to maintain its waterproof integrity.
  • Fingerprint Sensor: Keep the fingerprint sensor clean and free from dirt, dust, or moisture to ensure accurate readings.
  • Wiring: Periodically check the wiring connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or loose connections. Ensure all unused wires are properly insulated.

7.2. Common Issues

  • Device not responding: Check power connections and ensure the device is receiving adequate power (DC 12V-24V).
  • Fingerprint not recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Press your finger flat on the sensor as shown in the schematic. If issues persist, try re-adding your fingerprint in the app.
  • RFID card not working: Ensure the card is placed correctly on the card area. Verify the card frequency (125KHz or 13.56MHz) matches the device's configuration.
  • Password not working: Double-check the entered password. Ensure the keypad is not in a locked state (e.g., after multiple failed attempts).
  • Wi-Fi signal weak: If the Tuya app indicates a weak Wi-Fi signal, try moving your Wi-Fi router closer to the access control unit or installing a Wi-Fi extender.
  • Door not unlocking after successful authentication: Check the wiring to the lock mechanism (NO/NC/COM ports) and ensure the lock is receiving the correct signal. Verify the door opening time setting.
  • Device factory reset: If you need to restore factory defaults, follow the instructions in the manual. Be aware that this will wipe all user data.

8. User Tips

To maximize your experience and security with the access control keypad:

  • Regularly Review Access Logs: Utilize the Tuya app to periodically check the opening records. This helps monitor who accessed the door and when.
  • Strong Passwords: When setting up passwords, choose complex combinations of numbers to enhance security.
  • Admin Card Security: Keep your Admin Add Card in a secure location. This card is crucial for managing users and device settings.
  • Temporary Access: For visitors or temporary access needs, use the temporary code feature in the Tuya app instead of creating permanent user accounts.
  • Backup Access: Always have a backup method of entry (e.g., a physical key if your lock supports it, or a trusted neighbor with access) in case of power outages or technical issues.
