4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Safety Precautions

WARNING: Always ensure the electricity supply is completely cut off at the main circuit breaker before attempting any electrical installation to prevent electric shock.

It is recommended to have a qualified electrician perform the installation if you are unsure.

4.2. Package Contents

4.3. Physical Installation

1. Disconnect Power: Turn off the total power supply at home from the main circuit breaker.
2. Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the original wall switch from its box.
3. Remove Panel: Use a word screwdriver to gently pry open the front glass panel from the main switch unit.
4. Disassemble Wiring: Disassemble the wiring part of the main switch.
5. Connect Wires: Connect the wires according to the appropriate wiring diagram (see Section 4.4).
6. Fix Switch: Screw the main switch into the wall box.
7. Buckle Glass Plate: Reattach the glass panel to the switch unit.
8. Power On: Restore power supply.
9. Initial Pairing Mode: Press and hold the switch button until its orange light appears (for Wi-Fi pairing).

4.4. Wiring Diagram

The BONDA Smart Switch supports two main wiring modes: with a neutral wire (Live & Neutral Wire) and without a neutral wire (Single Live Wire).

4.4.1. Live & Neutral Wire (Neutral Wire Required)

This mode requires a neutral wire (N) connection.

• Fire wire connects to the 'L' terminal.
• Lamp wires connect to 'L1', 'L2', 'L3', 'L4' terminals (depending on the number of gangs).
• Neutral wire connects to the 'N' terminal.

4.4.2. Single Live Wire (No Neutral Wire Required)

This mode does not require a neutral wire connection at the switch. A capacitor must be installed for proper operation.

• Live wire connects to the 'L' terminal.
• Lamp wires connect to 'L1', 'L2', 'L3', 'L4' terminals (depending on the number of gangs).
• Capacitor Installation: The provided capacitor must be connected across the first lamp wire (L1) and the neutral wire of the lamp. It should NOT be installed behind the switch.

Terminal Assignments for Single Live Wire:

• 1-gang switch: Connects to 'L2' terminal.
• 2-gang switch: Connects to 'L1', 'L3' terminals.
• 3-gang switch: Connects to 'L1', 'L2', 'L3' terminals.
• 4-gang switch: Connects to 'L1', 'L2', 'L3', 'L4' terminals.

4.5. App Download & Registration

1. Download App: Scan the QR code below or search for "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" in your device's app store (iOS App Store or Google Play).

2. Register/Login: Open the app, enter the register/login interface. You can input your phone number to receive a verification code for registration, or use other available login methods.

4.6. Wi-Fi Pairing Methods

Ensure your switch is in pairing mode (blue backlight flashing).

4.6.1. Easy Mode (Quick Flashing)

1. Reset Device: If the switch is not flashing quickly after power on, touch any button on the switch for a long time until the blue backlight flashes alternately and quickly. Release the button.
2. Add Device in App: Open the "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" app, tap the "+" icon in the upper right corner.
3. Select Switch: Choose "Switch (Wi-Fi)" from the device list.
4. Enter Wi-Fi Info: Enter your home Wi-Fi network name and password.
5. Connect: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the connection.

4.6.2. AP Mode (Slow Flashing)

1. Enter AP Mode: Touch any button on the switch for a long time until the blue backlight flashes alternately and slowly. Release the button.
2. Add Device in App: Open the "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" app, tap the "+" icon.
3. Select Switch: Choose "Switch (Wi-Fi)" and then select "AP Mode" (usually an option in the top right).
4. Enter Wi-Fi Info: Enter your home Wi-Fi network name and password.
5. Connect to Device Hotspot: The app will instruct you to connect your phone to the switch's Wi-Fi hotspot (e.g., "SmartLife-xxxx").
6. Return to App: Once connected, return to the app to complete the pairing process.

4.7. RF433 Remote Control Pairing

1. Enter RF433 Pairing Mode: Touch the desired switch button for a long time until its blue backlight flashes once. Release the button.
2. Press Remote Button: Press the corresponding button on your RF433 remote controller (e.g., button 'A' for switch 1) to complete the pairing. The switch light will flash to confirm successful pairing.

4.7.1. RF Code Delete Method

To clear all RF control functions from the switch:

1. Touch any switch button for a long time until the blue backlight flashes twice.
2. Release the touch button. All previously paired RF remote controls will be cleared.

5. Operation

5.1. Manual Touch Control

Simply touch the capacitive touch panel to turn the connected lights ON or OFF. The backlight will indicate the status:

• ON: Red light
• OFF: Blue light

5.2. App Control (Tuya Smart / Smart Life)

Once paired with the app, you can:

• Turn lights ON/OFF remotely from anywhere.

5.3. Voice Control (Amazon Alexa / Google Home)

After linking your Tuya Smart/Smart Life account to Amazon Alexa or Google Home, you can use voice commands to control your lights. Examples:

5.4. RF433 Remote Control

Use the paired RF433 remote controller to turn lights ON/OFF without needing Wi-Fi or the app.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

The switch features a flat mirror glass panel that is easy to clean. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. Common Issues & Solutions

• Switch not responding after installation: Ensure electricity is restored and all wires are securely connected according to the wiring diagram. Double-check the neutral wire connection (if applicable) or capacitor installation for single live wire setups.
• Lights flicker or do not turn off completely (Single Live Wire): This often indicates an issue with the capacitor. Ensure the capacitor is correctly installed across the L1 lamp wire and the neutral wire of the lamp, not behind the switch. Also, ensure the connected lamp is an LED lamp of over 5W.
• Cannot pair with Wi-Fi: Make sure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz (5GHz is not supported). Ensure the switch is in the correct pairing mode (fast or slow flashing blue backlight) and your Wi-Fi password is correct. Try resetting the device and attempting pairing again.
• RF remote control not working: Ensure the RF remote is correctly paired with the switch. Repeat the RF pairing steps if necessary.
• Voice control not working: Verify that your Tuya Smart/Smart Life account is correctly linked to your Amazon Alexa or Google Home app. Check your internet connection and ensure the voice commands are clear and match the device names in your app.

7.2. Important Notes

• The switch is designed for single-pole, 1-way control only.
• It does not support dimmable lamps.
• For optimal performance with single live wire setups, we suggest using LED lamps with a power rating of over 5W for the L1 connection.

• Regional Compatibility: This switch is designed to meet EU standards. Please verify compatibility with your local electrical standards before purchase and installation.
• Non-Dimmable: Remember that this switch is not compatible with dimmable lights. Ensure all connected bulbs are non-dimmable types.
• Capacitor Placement: For single live wire installations, always connect the capacitor directly to the lamp (between L1 and Neutral of the lamp), not at the switch itself. This is crucial for stable operation and preventing flickering.
