- Remove batteries during long-term storage to prevent leakage damage.
4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the instrument.
- Insert three 1.5V AAA batteries (RO3/LR03) with correct polarity, matching the indicators inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Probe Connection
- Identify the K-type or J-type thermocouple probes.
- Connect the appropriate probe(s) to the input terminal(s) at the top of the instrument. For dual-channel measurement with the TA611B, connect probes to both T1 and T2 inputs.
- Ensure the probe connectors are fully inserted and secure.

5. Operation
5.1 Power On/Off
Switch on the instrument using the power button located on the front panel.
5.2 Temperature Measurement
- Select the desired temperature unit (degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit) using the 'UNIT' button.
- Place the probe tip on or inside the target object or medium.
- Allow the reading on the display to stabilize.
- For dual-channel measurement (TA611B), the display will show readings for both T1 and T2. You can also view the temperature difference (T1-T2 or T2-T1) using the dedicated buttons.

5.3 Data Hold and Max/Min/Average Values
- Press the 'HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the screen. Press again to release.
- Press the 'MAX/MIN' button to cycle through maximum, minimum, and average values recorded during measurement.

5.4 High/Low Temperature Alarms
- The upper and lower alarm thresholds can be set.
- When the measurement exceeds or falls below the set thresholds, the red backlight on the screen will light up as an alarm indicator.
- The factory default alarm thresholds are set to 1300°C (upper limit) and -200°C (lower limit).

5.5 ADJ Temperature Compensation
- If the measured temperature differs from the actual standard temperature, it can be corrected using the ADJ temperature compensation function.
- Adjust compensation within the range of -9°C to +9°C as needed.

5.6 Auto Power Off
The device automatically turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. This feature can be manually disabled if continuous operation is required.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
- Clean the housing with a soft, dry cloth only.
- Do not use chemical solvents or abrasive cleaners, as these may damage the instrument.
7.2 Storage
- Store the instrument in a dry environment, free from dust and vibration.
- For long-term storage, remove the batteries to prevent leakage damage.
7.3 Inspection and Calibration
- Inspect thermocouple connectors and cables regularly for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Periodic calibration is recommended according to internal quality procedures or applicable industry standards to ensure continued accuracy.
8. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your thermometer.
- No Display / Instrument Not Turning On:
- Check if batteries are installed correctly with the right polarity.
- Replace with fresh AAA batteries.
- Ensure the power button is pressed firmly.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Verify that the probe type (K or J) matches the setting on the instrument.
- Ensure the probe is properly connected and not damaged.
- Allow sufficient time for the reading to stabilize.
- Consider performing ADJ temperature compensation if a known offset exists.
- Check if the probe's measurement range is suitable for the target temperature.
- Alarm Not Functioning:
- Ensure alarm thresholds are correctly set.
- Check if the backlight is functioning.
- Display Backlight Not Working:
- The backlight can be activated by pressing and holding the backlight button (often combined with another function, indicated by a symbol like a sun or light bulb) for more than 2 seconds.
9. User Tips
- For the most stable readings, ensure the probe has reached thermal equilibrium with the object being measured.
- When measuring liquids, ensure the probe tip is fully submerged but not touching the bottom or sides of the container.
- Utilize the 'HOLD' function to easily record fluctuating temperatures.
- Regularly check the battery level, especially before critical measurements.
- Keep a variety of optional probes on hand to adapt to different measurement scenarios (e.g., surface, liquid, air).
