6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your device before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the surface.
  • For dust and debris between keycaps, use a can of compressed air or a small brush.
  • The CNC aluminum body has a nano-coating that is smooth and resistant to fingerprints, making it easy to clean.

6.2. Keycap and Switch Replacement

The Mchose Gx87 V2 features hot-swappable switches, allowing you to easily change switches without soldering. The PBT keycaps are durable and can also be replaced.

  2. Use the provided switch puller to carefully grip the switch and pull it straight up to remove it from the PCB.
  3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are not bent.
  4. Place the new keycap onto the switch stem.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. Keyboard Not Responding

  • Wired Mode: Ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer. Try a different USB port or cable.
  • 2.4G Wireless Mode: Ensure the 2.4G dongle is properly inserted into a USB port. Check that the keyboard's mode switch is set to '2.4G'. Try pressing the 'Mchose' button to re-establish connection.
  • Bluetooth Mode: Verify Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the keyboard's mode switch is set to 'B'. Re-pair the keyboard if necessary. Ensure the keyboard battery is charged.

7.2. RGB Backlight Issues

  • Check if the backlight is turned off or set to minimum brightness. Use the designated key combinations (refer to quick guide) to adjust.
  • Ensure the keyboard battery has sufficient charge, as low battery can affect lighting performance.

7.3. Keys Not Registering

  • If individual keys are not working, the switch might be faulty or not properly seated. Use the switch puller to remove and re-insert the switch. If the issue persists, replace the switch with one of the spares.
  • Ensure no debris is obstructing the switch mechanism.

8. User Tips

  • The keyboard's low front height (approx. 19.6mm) and ergonomic design contribute to a comfortable typing experience, reducing fatigue during long periods of use.
  • While the keyboard is designed for customization with hot-swappable switches, the internal structure uses adhesive pads and screws from the bottom, which can make full disassembly challenging without potentially damaging components. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary internal modifications.
  • The factory-lubricated satellite shafts and balance bars ensure large keys (like Spacebar, Enter, Shift) have a stable and balanced feel, reducing noise.
