4. Setup Instructions

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the power supply and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during transit. The package should include:

  • 1 x DC Power Supply Unit
  • 1 x Power Cable
  • 1 x USB Cable (for computer connection)
  • 1 x User Manual
  • 1 x Output Cable (with alligator clips)

4.2 Connecting Power

  1. Ensure the power supply's main power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the provided power cable to the AC inlet on the rear panel of the power supply.
  3. Plug the other end of the power cable into a suitable grounded AC power outlet (110V or 220V, depending on your model).

4.3 Connecting Output Load

  1. Ensure the power supply is turned OFF and the output is disabled (OFF state on the display).
  2. Connect the red output cable to the red (+) terminal and the black output cable to the black (-) terminal on the front panel.
  3. Connect the other end of the output cables to your load, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. For grounding, connect the green GND terminal to the ground of your setup if required.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Flip the main power switch on the rear panel to turn the device ON or OFF.

5.2 Adjusting Voltage and Current

  1. Turn the power supply ON.
  2. The display will show the current output voltage, current, and power.
  3. To adjust the voltage or current, press the encoder adjustment knob to select the digit you wish to change.
  4. Rotate the knob to increase or decrease the value of the selected digit.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all digits until the desired voltage and current are set.

5.3 Output Enable/Disable

Press the OUTPUT button to enable or disable the power output. When disabled, the display will show "OFF". Always disable output before connecting or disconnecting loads.

5.4 Lock Function

Press the LOCK button to lock the current settings. This prevents accidental changes to voltage and current parameters during operation. Press again to unlock.

5.5 Memory Storage (M1-M4)

The power supply has four memory presets (M1, M2, M3, M4) to store and recall frequently used voltage and current settings.

  1. Set the desired voltage and current using the encoder knob.
  2. Press and hold one of the memory buttons (M1-M4) until the display indicates the settings are saved.
  3. To recall a saved setting, simply press the corresponding memory button (M1-M4) briefly.

5.6 V/A Switch

Press the V/A button to switch between displaying voltage and current values on the main output display.

6. PC Software Control

The KUAIQU DC Power Supply can be controlled via a computer using RS-232, RS-485, or USB communication standards. This allows for precise programming and monitoring.

6.1 Connection and Driver Installation

  1. Connect the DC power supply to your PC using the provided USB cable or an optional RS-232/RS-485 cable (purchased separately).
  2. Place the PC and DC power supply in the startup state.
  3. Install the necessary driver programs and the upper computer software on your computer. Refer to the WORD document provided with the product for detailed installation methods.

6.2 Software Interface Overview

The software interface allows for model selection, current/voltage adjustment, output control, and programmed output testing.

6.3 Modifying Fixed Settings for Commonly Used Values

You can modify commonly used values directly within the software. Note that temporary settings are directly editable in the upper computer window bar, but these parameters are not saved after closing the software.

6.4 Communication Port Interface Definition

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the power supply. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation openings on the sides and rear of the unit are not obstructed. The intelligent temperature-controlled fan will automatically activate to cool the unit when needed, prolonging its lifespan.
  • Storage: Store the power supply in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your power supply, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Check if the power cable is securely connected to both the unit and the AC outlet.
    • Ensure the main power switch on the rear panel is ON.
    • Verify the AC outlet is functioning correctly.
  • No Output Voltage/Current:
    • Ensure the OUTPUT button is enabled (not showing "OFF" on the display).
    • Check if the output cables are correctly connected to the load and the power supply terminals.
    • Verify that the voltage and current settings are not set to zero.
  • Settings Cannot Be Changed:
    • Check if the LOCK button is engaged. Press it to unlock the controls.
  • Overload/Protection Triggered:
    • The power supply has multiple protections (over-voltage, over-current, over-heat, short-circuit, overload). If a protection is triggered, the output may shut down. Disconnect the load, check for faults, and then re-enable the output.
    • Reduce the load or adjust settings to be within the device's limits.
