6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Avoid liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the USBelf in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the antenna carefully to avoid bending or breaking. Ensure it is securely connected during wireless operation.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for software and firmware updates for optimal performance and new features.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Powering On: Ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected to a stable 5V power source. Try a different cable or power adapter.
  • Mode Indicator Not Green (Wired Mode): Verify the USB Type-C connection to the PC. Ensure the PC's USB port is functioning.
  • WiFi Connection Issues (Wireless Mode):
    • Ensure the antenna is properly attached.
    • Press the Channel Switching Button on the USBelf to try different WiFi channels.
    • Check that your mobile device is connected to the USBelf's WiFi hotspot.
    • If the WiFi Channel Indicator blinks slowly, the USBelf is not receiving a signal. Check connections and ensure the control app is running.
  • Software Not Detecting Device: For wired mode, ensure the USBelf is correctly connected to the PC. For wireless mode, confirm your device is connected to the USBelf's WiFi hotspot. Restart the software and/or the USBelf device.
  • RDM Fixtures Not Responding: Ensure the DMX cable is securely connected to the fixtures. Verify that the fixtures are RDM-compatible and powered on. Check DMX addressing in the software.

8. User Tips

  • Primary Function: The USBelf primarily functions as a DMX/RDM controller and transmitter, allowing you to send control signals to lighting fixtures. While it can record DMX signals, its main purpose is not as a DMX receiver for external control systems like Aputure Sidus 1. If you need a dedicated DMX receiver, please ensure it is compatible with your specific setup.
  • Windows PC for Advanced Features: For batch coding and visual addressing, a Windows PC is recommended as these features are exclusively available on that platform.
  • Optimal WiFi Channel Selection: In environments with multiple WiFi networks, use the channel switching button on the USBelf to find the least congested 2.4GHz channel for a more stable wireless connection.
  • Safety First: When modifying RDM fixture addresses, especially in complex setups, always ensure you understand the changes you are making to prevent unintended behavior of your lighting equipment.
