6.4. Cutting

With 20W laser output power and an ultra-fine spot of 0.03*0.06mm, the MR20 can easily cut thin stainless steel sheets, thin aluminum sheets, and brass sheets. For example, a 0.2mm aluminum business card can be cut in a single pass, and a 0.5mm brass sheet can be cut with multiple passes.

6.5. Rust Removal

The 1064nm wavelength of the MR20 laser is highly effective for removing rust layers from metal surfaces. This process is efficient, flexible, precise, and harmless to the metal itself, requiring no chemical solvents or abrasives, thus generating no pollution or waste.

6.6. Material-Specific Engraving Differences

The 1064nm infrared laser offers distinct advantages over 455nm blue lasers for certain materials. Most metals have low absorption and reflectance rates to 1064nm wavelength lasers without oxidation. The 1064nm wavelength lasers have higher energy density, resulting in more evaporation and melting, making the engraving more precise.

7. Maintenance

  • Regularly clean the laser lens with a soft, lint-free cloth and appropriate lens cleaning solution to ensure optimal performance.
  • Keep the module and control box free from dust and debris.
  • Inspect cables for any signs of wear or damage before each use.
  • Store the laser module in a dry, cool environment when not in use.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. Common Issues

  • Laser not firing: Check all cable connections, ensure the power supply is connected and switched on, and verify software settings.
  • Poor engraving/cutting quality: Re-check focus, adjust laser power and speed settings in your software, and ensure the material is clean and properly secured.
  • Module not recognized by software: Ensure the correct drivers are installed for your operating system and that the USB connection is stable.

8.2. Compatibility with ATOMSTACK X7 Pro

The ATOMSTACK MR20 1064nm Infrared Fiber Laser Module is fully compatible with the ATOMSTACK X7 Pro, as well as all other ATOMSTACK brand laser engraving machine frames. Ensure proper installation and connection as per the instructions.

9. User Tips

  • Verify Compatibility: Always ensure your ATOMSTACK MR20 module is correctly installed and compatible with your specific ATOMSTACK machine frame.
  • Optimize Settings: Experiment with the 30-60kHz pulse power adjustment knob and software settings (LaserGRBL, LightBurn) to achieve the best engraving, cutting, or rust removal results for different materials.
  • Deep Engraving: For optimal deep engraving results, especially on materials like slate, ensure the surface is flat and clean.
  • Rust Removal: The 1064nm laser is highly effective for rust removal; adjust power and speed to suit the rust thickness without damaging the base metal.
