  • Read Codes: Retrieves Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the vehicle's computer. These codes indicate specific issues detected by the vehicle's self-diagnostic system.
  • Clear Codes: Erases DTCs from the vehicle's computer and turns off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), also known as the Check Engine Light. This should only be done after addressing the underlying issue.
  • Live Data: Displays real-time data streams from various sensors and components in the vehicle. This can help in diagnosing intermittent problems.
  • EVAP Test: Performs a test of the Evaporative Emission Control System, which monitors fuel vapor leaks.
  • Freeze Frame: Captures a snapshot of engine conditions (e.g., engine speed, fuel system status, coolant temperature) at the moment a fault code was set.
  • I/M Readiness: Checks the status of the Inspection/Maintenance Readiness monitors. This indicates if the vehicle's emission control systems have completed their self-tests.
  • O2 Sensor Test: Monitors and displays the results of oxygen sensor tests, which are crucial for emission control.
  • On-Board Monitor Test: Allows access to the results of on-board diagnostic monitoring tests for specific components/systems.
  • VIN: Retrieves the Vehicle Identification Number.
  • Vehicle Information: Accesses other vehicle-specific information.
  • DTC Code Lookup: Provides definitions for generic and manufacturer-specific DTCs.
  • Smog Check: A quick check of the vehicle's emissions readiness status.
  • MIL Fault Indicator Light: Indicates the status of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light).

4.3 Reset Check Engine Light (MIL)

After repairing a fault, you can use the 'Clear Codes' function to turn off the Check Engine Light. Ensure the repair has been completed to prevent the light from reappearing.
