ThundeaL TD85W/TD85SE Portable Mini Projector User Manual

Please read this manual carefully before operating your projector.

1. Important Safeguards

Installation

  • For optimal viewing, operate the projector in a dark room or with curtains drawn.
  • Handle the projector with care. Dropping or crashing may damage components, leading to blurred images or abnormal display.

Power

  • Use the power cord carefully; avoid excessive bending. Damage to the power cable can cause electric shock or fire.
  • It is recommended to unplug the power cord after turning off the projector.

Cleaning

  • Always unplug the power cable before cleaning.
  • Clean the projector shell regularly with a damp cloth and a neutral detergent.
  • Use a glasses cloth or lens paper to clean the lens, avoiding scratches.
  • Regularly clean the projector's vents and speakers with a soft brush to prevent blocked ventilation.

High Temperature Attention

  • During or immediately after projection, the exhaust port will be hot. Avoid touching to prevent burns.
  • Do not look directly into the lens during projection, as it may cause eye injury.

Warm Tips

  • Do not disassemble the projector. This voids the warranty and carries a risk of electric shock.
  • Do not place any liquid or heavy objects on the projector.
  • To ensure stable heat dissipation, open the height bracket at the bottom of the projector before starting operation.

3. Product Overview

The projector supports high-definition video and composite video signals, along with stereo audio input and output. Connect to other audio equipment as needed.

  1. Lens: The projection lens.
  2. Camera: (Only available in auto focus version) Used for automatic focus and keystone correction.
  3. IR Receiver: Infrared receiver for the remote control.
  4. 3.5mm port for Audio Output: Connect external audio devices.
  5. USB port: For connecting USB storage devices.
  6. IR for the Remote Control: Additional IR receiver.
  7. HDMI port: For connecting HDMI sources.
  8. Speaker: Built-in audio output.
  9. Power Socket: Connect the power cable here.
  10. Air Outlet: For heat dissipation.
  11. Air Inlet: For air intake.

  1. Power Key: Main power button.
  2. Bracket Holes: (1/4 inch nut ×1, depth 6mm) Supports hoisting.
  3. Bottom Label: Product information.
  4. Dust Net Bracket: Can be removed periodically for cleaning.

Remote Control

  1. Power Key: Turns the projector on/off.
  2. Arrow keys: Navigation.
  3. Home Key: Returns to the home screen.
  4. Return key: Goes back to the previous screen.
  5. Volume+: Increases volume.
  6. Volume-: Decreases volume.
  7. Source key: Selects input source.
  8. Confirmation key: Confirms selection.
  9. Menu: Accesses menu options.
  10. Mute Key: Mutes/unmutes audio.
  11. Focus+: Increases focus.
  12. Focus-: Decreases focus.
  13. Screen Flip: Flips the projected image.

4. Setup

Standard Setting (Projection Distance)

Refer to the table below to adjust your picture size and projection distance (from the lens to the screen). Allow a ±3% tolerance for image sizes. If the distance is outside the min/max range, the image may be blurry.

Installation Method

The projector can be installed in various ways. For ceiling mounts, consult a professional installer. The lifting device must withstand 4 times the product's weight.

Supported Projection Modes:

  • Front Projection Ceiling Mount
  • Rear Projection Ceiling Mount
  • Front Projection Table Mount
  • Rear Projection Table Mount

The projector also features a 1/4 screw hole for flexible mounting options.

Installation Warnings:

  • Incorrect mounting can damage the projector.
  • Operate the projector only in environments between 0°C and 35°C. Malfunction may occur outside this range.
  • Avoid dusty, wet, moist, or smoky conditions to prevent malfunction.
  • Poor ventilation can cause overheating, leading to damage or a hazardous situation.

5. Operation

Power On/Off

  • Standby: When connected to power, the signal indicator is red.
  • Power On: Press the power key on the projector body or remote control. The indicator turns blue, and the projector enters working state.
  • Power Off: In working state, press the power key on the projector body or remote control. The indicator changes from blue to red, and the projector turns off.

Image Focusing

For first-time use or if the image is blurred, adjust the focus:

  • Use the "F+" and "F-" keys on the remote control to adjust the focal length. Tap or long-press until the picture is clear.
  • Auto Focus: (Available only in autofocus versions) Ensure the camera is not blocked during autofocusing.

Projection Settings

From the main interface, select "SETTING" then navigate to "Projection Settings" to choose your desired mode:

  • Front-Desktop
  • Rear-Desktop
  • Front-Ceiling
  • Rear-Ceiling

Keystone Correction:

  • Manual Keystone: Adjust the four corners using arrow keys until the screen is corrected.
  • Automatic Keystone: (Available in autofocus versions) When enabled, the projector automatically adjusts the image to remain square even if the device is moved.
  • 8D Automatic Keystone Correction: Supports multi-dimensional automatic adjustments for a square and clear image, regardless of placement.

Digital Zoom:

Adjust the screen size from 50% to 100%.

Correction Settings:

  • Trapezoidal Correction Reset: Restores the screen to its original proportions.
  • AutoKeystone Correction At Power On: Automatically adjusts the screen squareness upon booting.
  • Power On Auto Focus: Automatically adjusts the picture for clarity upon booting.

Select the Source

Press the signal source button on the remote control. A pop-up window will appear. Select your desired input source (e.g., HDMI/USB) and press "OK" to enter the corresponding interface.

Connect to WiFi

The projector supports 2.4G and 5G WiFi6 for faster, smoother connections.

To connect:

  1. Select "SETTING" on the main interface, then choose "WIFI Setting".
  2. Select your desired WiFi network from the list.
  3. Enter the password and complete the connection. "Connected" will be displayed next to the network name.

Connect Bluetooth

The projector features Bluetooth 5.0 for seamless wireless connectivity to external audio devices.

To connect:

  1. Select "SETTING" on the main interface, then choose "Bluetooth Setting".
  2. Turn on Bluetooth.
  3. Search for available Bluetooth devices and pair with your desired device.

Download Apps (Android 12 System)

The projector runs on Android 12.0 OS, allowing you to download and install various applications from the Play Store.

To download apps:

  1. Select "APPS" on the interface.
  2. Enter the app interface (e.g., Play Store) and download the apps you need.

Read Files on U Disk

To play media from a USB drive:

  1. Insert your U disk into the USB port.
  2. Select "SETTING" on the interface, then choose "USB".
  3. Select your U disk and browse for the file you want to view.

Wireless Screen Mirroring

The projector supports DLNA, Airplay, and Miracast for wireless screen synchronization with Android and iOS phones.

Office App Support

The projector supports reading office applications (Excel, Word, PDF, PowerPoint) directly via a USB stick.

6. Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the projector's exterior with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Clean the lens with a specialized lens cloth or paper to avoid scratches.
  • Periodically remove and clean the dust net bracket to maintain optimal airflow.

Lamp Life and Cooling

The projector features an LED lamp with a long lifespan of 50,000 hours. An outstanding cooling system helps maintain performance and lamp longevity.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Causes & Solutions
Indicator light does not work when power switch is turned on.
  • Power cable is not connected properly.
  • The power switch is faulty.
  • The power switch is turned off.
Projector does not work when using the remote control.
  • The remote control has no batteries or the batteries are low.
  • The remote control is not being aimed at the IR receiver.
  • The IR receiver is under strong lights.
No image.
  • The input source may not be correct.
  • No input signal.
  • The input cable is not connected.
  • If under PC mode, the PC output frequency is not 50-60Hz. Make sure that the PC output is connected with the projector.
  • If using a laptop, check if the output signal is HDMI1 or HDMI2.
Auto-off.
  • The projector ventilation is blocked.
  • The voltage is not stable.
  • The projector has overheated - check that the fan is not broken.

9. User Tips

  • For the best image quality, ensure the room is as dark as possible.
  • Utilize the auto keystone and auto focus features for quick and easy setup.
  • When using the Android system, regularly check for system updates to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features.
  • To avoid overheating, ensure the projector has adequate space for ventilation and keep the vents clear of obstructions.
  • Experiment with different projection modes (front, rear, ceiling) to find the best fit for your viewing environment.
