1. Introduction

The TU15 Pro is a playback control processor specially designed by Xi'an NovaStar Tech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as NovaStar) for indoor LED screens. It integrates the Android system and sending card functions into one unit, and allows third-party apps to run on it, featuring powerful interaction and playback control capabilities.

The TU15 Pro allows users to control the LED screen with a remote and supports wireless screen mirroring from Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices. It offers four different modes tailored for various applications, ensuring the best display quality for document presentations, video playback, and remote meetings.

The TU15 Pro has no requirements of redesigning or changing the screen structure and can be mounted on the wall or placed on a surface, allowing for quick environment setup and use. It can be widely used in corporate exhibition halls, meeting rooms, government and corporate educational halls, hotel lobbies, telemedicine consultation and other LED single-screen application scenarios.

3.1. Front Panel

5. Setup

5.1. Installation Scenarios

The TU15 Pro can be installed in a rack or mounted on a wall.

  • Rack Installation: When installing the product on a rack, use at least 4 M5*12 screws to fix it. The rack must be capable of bearing a weight of at least 5kg.
  • Wall Mounting: When mounting the product on a wall, use at least 2 M4*12 screws with an installation distance of 83mm. The screws must be capable of bearing a weight of at least 10kg.

To set up your TU15 Pro, follow these general connection guidelines:

  • Connect the TU15 Pro to your LED screen using an Ethernet cable.
  • Connect video sources to the HDMI IN ports.
  • Connect a power adapter to the 12V 3A power input.
  • Attach Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antennas to the designated ports.
  • For remote control, pair the Bluetooth voice remote.
  • For wireless mirroring, connect a mirroring dongle (if purchased separately) or use compatible apps on your phone/computer.
  • Connect a mouse, keyboard, or USB drive to the USB 2.0 ports as needed.

6. Operation

6.1. Basic Device Operation

  • Power On/Off/Standby: Press the Standby button on the front panel to power on the device or put it into standby mode.
  • Restart: Hold down the Standby button to restart the device.
  • Status Indicator: The Status LED on the front panel will be solid green when the device is running normally and off when it is not running.

6.2. Input and Output Usage

  • HDMI IN: Connect your video sources (e.g., computer, media player) to the HDMI IN ports.
  • USB 2.0 Ports: Use these ports to connect a mouse, keyboard for navigation, or USB drives for direct media playback.
  • Ethernet Port: Connect to an external network for internet access or to a control PC running NovaLCT software for advanced configuration.
  • HDMI OUT: This port supports the output of standard 1080p videos.
  • Audio Outputs: Use the 3.5mm audio output for analog audio or the SPDIF port for digital fiber optic audio.

6.3. Control Methods

  • Remote Control: Utilize the Bluetooth voice remote for convenient playback control of local programs and simple program editing directly on the screen.
  • Mobile App Control (ViPlex Handy / VNNOX Care): Download and install the ViPlex Handy or VNNOX Care app on your smartphone. These apps allow for program editing, publishing, screen control, configuring the LED screen, adjusting topology, and monitoring device status.
  • Wireless Mirroring: Mirror content from your Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android devices to the LED screen.
  • USB Playback: Insert a USB drive into a USB 2.0 port for standalone playback of supported media files.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Novastar TU15 Pro, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid liquid cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure proper airflow around the device to prevent overheating, especially in rack installations. Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check the official NovaStar website (www.novastar.tech) for firmware and software updates. Keeping your device updated ensures access to the latest features and performance improvements.
  • Cable Management: Ensure all cables are securely connected and organized to prevent accidental disconnections or damage.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TU15 Pro, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Ensure the power adapter is correctly connected to the 12V 3A input and the power outlet. Check if the power adapter is functioning.
  • No Display on LED Screen: Verify that the Ethernet cable connecting the TU15 Pro to the LED screen is securely attached. Check the HDMI input source and cable connections. Ensure the LED screen is powered on and configured correctly.
  • Remote Control Not Responding: Check the battery in the Bluetooth voice remote. Ensure the remote is properly paired with the TU15 Pro via Bluetooth.
  • Mobile App Connectivity Issues: Confirm that your smartphone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the TU15 Pro. Ensure the ViPlex Handy or VNNOX Care app is updated to the latest version.
  • Media Playback Problems: Check if the media file format is supported (refer to Section 4.2 and 4.3). Ensure the USB drive is properly inserted and formatted (FAT32 or NTFS).
  • Intermittent Signal: Check all cable connections for looseness or damage. Ensure there are no strong electromagnetic interferences nearby.

13. Notes and Cautions

13.1. Notes for Battery

  • The battery is not intended to be replaced.
  • Disposal of a battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery can result in an explosion.
  • Leaving a battery in an extremely high temperature surrounding environment can result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
  • A battery subjected to extremely low air pressure may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.

13.2. Installation Notes

  • Elevated Operating Ambient: If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) specified by the manufacturer.
  • Reduced Air Flow: Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.
  • Mechanical Loading: Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.
  • Circuit Overloading: Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern.
  • Reliable Earthing: Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit (e.g. use of power strips).
