5. Setup and Programming
This section outlines the general steps for setting up and programming your access control keypad. For specific programming codes and sequences, please refer to the full product manual that accompanies your device.
5.1 Keypad Interface Overview

Figure 12: Keypad interface with labeled components.
- Working Light: Indicates device status.
- Password Field: Area for entering PIN codes.
- Swipe Area: For presenting ID/IC cards.
- Doorbell Function: Activates an external doorbell.
- Fingerprint Region: For fingerprint identification.
5.2 Initial Setup
- Power On: Connect the device to a stable DC12V power supply as per the wiring diagrams.
- Enter Programming Mode: Typically involves entering a default master code. Consult your specific manual for this code.
- Change Master Code: For security, immediately change the default master code to a new, secure one.
5.3 Adding Users
The device supports adding users via fingerprint, card, or PIN. Each method will have a specific programming sequence.
- Adding Fingerprints: Follow the on-screen prompts or manual instructions to register user fingerprints. Multiple scans may be required for accuracy.
- Adding Cards: Present the EM or Mifare card to the swipe area when prompted in programming mode.
- Adding PINs: Enter the desired user PIN code using the keypad.
- Visitor Users: Program temporary access for visitor users as needed.
- Multi-User Combinations: Configure specific access modes that require multiple users (e.g., two fingerprints) for entry.
6. Operation
Once configured, users can gain access using their registered credentials.
- Fingerprint Access: Place a registered finger on the fingerprint region. The working light will indicate successful verification.
- Card Access: Present a registered EM or Mifare card to the swipe area.
- PIN Access: Enter the registered PIN code using the keypad, followed by the '#' key (or as specified in your manual).
- Multi-User Combination Access: Follow the programmed sequence for multiple users to present their credentials.
- Doorbell Function: Press the doorbell icon on the keypad to activate the connected doorbell.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the keypad surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the ABS material or screen.
- Environmental Protection: While the device is IP66 waterproof, prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions (e.g., direct sunlight, heavy snow, ice) should be minimized to ensure longevity.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check wiring connections for any signs of wear or damage.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device Not Responding: Check power supply connections. Ensure the working voltage is within DC12V±25%.
- Cannot Configure/Reset to Factory Settings: If you are unable to configure the device or need to reset it, consult the full product manual for the specific reset procedure. This often involves a master code or a physical reset button/jumper.
- Forgotten Codes/Lost Cards: If master codes are lost or cards are misplaced, a factory reset might be necessary, which will erase all user data. Always keep a record of your master codes and backup user data if the device supports it.
- Fingerprint/Card Not Recognized: Ensure the fingerprint sensor and card swipe area are clean. Re-register the fingerprint or card if issues persist.
- Door Not Opening: Verify all wiring connections to the lock and power supply. Check the lock mechanism itself for any obstructions.
9. User Tips
- Secure Master Codes: Always change default master codes immediately after installation and keep them confidential.
- Backup User Data: If your model supports it, regularly back up user data (fingerprints, cards, PINs) to prevent loss.
- Test Regularly: Periodically test all registered access methods (fingerprint, card, PIN) to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Consult Manual: For detailed programming instructions, specific key sequences, or advanced features, always refer to the comprehensive user manual provided with your product.
- Proper Wiring: Double-check all wiring connections during installation to prevent malfunctions and ensure optimal performance.
