4.1 Charging the Battery

The ATS-25 is equipped with a large capacity lithium battery. Before first use, fully charge the device:

  1. Connect the supplied USB Type-C charging cable to the USB Charge/Download port on the rear of the radio.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  3. The LED charge indicator will illuminate during charging and turn off or change color when fully charged.

4.2 Attaching the Antenna

For optimal reception, attach the telescopic antenna:

  1. Screw the telescopic antenna into the ANT connector on the rear panel of the radio.
  2. Extend the antenna fully for better signal reception, especially on FM and SW bands.

4.3 Powering On/Off

Locate the POWER ON/OFF switch on the rear panel. Flip the switch to the 'ON' position to power on the radio. Flip it to 'OFF' to power off.

4.4 Applying Rubber Feet

For stability and to prevent scratching surfaces, attach the four rubber feet to the bottom corners of the radio.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

  1. Power On: Turn on the radio using the POWER ON/OFF switch. The 2.4-inch touch screen will light up.
  2. Volume Control: Use the 'VOL' touch button on the screen or the dedicated volume control (if present, otherwise use screen controls) to adjust the audio level.
  3. Mute Function: Press the 'MUTE' touch button to temporarily silence the audio.

5.2 Band Selection

The ATS-25 supports multiple frequency bands. To switch between bands:

  • Tap the 'BAND' touch button on the screen to cycle through available bands (FM, AM, LW, MW, SW).
  • For SSB reception, select an SW band and then tap the 'SSB' button to toggle between LSB (Lower Sideband) and USB (Upper Sideband).

5.3 Tuning

You can tune to frequencies using the tuning knob or the touch screen:

  • Tuning Knob: Rotate the large 'TUNE' knob on the right side of the radio to adjust the frequency. The frequency displayed on the screen will change accordingly.
  • Touch Screen Tuning: Use the 'STEP' button to change the tuning step size. You can also directly input frequencies or use on-screen frequency controls if available.
  • BFO (Beat Frequency Oscillator): For SSB reception, use the 'BFO' control to fine-tune the audio pitch.

5.4 Advanced Features

  • AGC (Automatic Gain Control): Helps maintain a consistent audio output level despite varying signal strengths.
  • ATT (Attenuator): Reduces strong signals to prevent overload, useful in areas with powerful local stations.
  • RDS (Radio Data System): Available on FM band, displays station information like station name, program type, etc.
  • DSP Receiver: Digital Signal Processing enhances audio quality and reception stability.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the radio's exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep the screen clean and free of smudges for optimal touch response.

6.2 Battery Care

  • Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan.
  • If storing the radio for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Recharge the battery every few months if not in use.

6.3 Storage

  • Store the radio in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Keep it away from strong magnetic fields.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Radio does not power on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the USB-C cable and try again. Check the POWER ON/OFF switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • No sound: Check the volume level. Ensure the 'MUTE' function is not active. If using headphones, ensure they are properly plugged into the 'Phone Head' jack.
  • Poor reception: Extend the telescopic antenna fully. Try repositioning the radio or the antenna. If indoors, move closer to a window. For AM/SW, try rotating the radio for better signal orientation. Ensure you are on the correct band and frequency for the station you are trying to receive.
  • Touch screen unresponsive: Power off the device and restart it. Ensure the screen is clean and dry.
