2. Setup Guide

2.1 Package Contents

Please verify that all items are present in your package:

2.2 Physical Overview

2.3 Preparation for Use

  1. Mobile Phone Connection: Ensure your mobile phone is connected to your home 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
  2. App Download: Search for the relevant AVATTO, Smart Life, or Tuya app in your device's App Store, or scan the QR code provided in the physical manual/packaging.
  3. Account Registration/Login: If you are a new user, tap "Register" to create an account. Existing users can click "Login".
  4. Network Proximity: Ensure your smartphone is on the same Wi-Fi network as the Smart Gateway for effective connection.

2.4 Network Settings

  1. Connect Power and Network: Connect the gateway to its power supply. The blue indicator light will turn on. Then, connect the network cable from the gateway to your home 2.4GHz band router. The indicator light will begin flashing.
  2. Local Area Network (LAN): Confirm that your mobile phone and the gateway are within the same local area network.
  3. Add Gateway in App: Open the app, navigate to the "My Home" page, and tap the "+" button in the upper right corner.
  4. Select Gateway: "Gateway (Zigbee)" will appear on the "Gateway Control" page. Tap it to begin adding the device.
  5. Follow App Instructions: Complete the device addition process by following the on-screen instructions in the app.

2.5 Adding Sub-Devices

Once the gateway is successfully added, you can add sub-devices:

  1. Scan Code to Add (for Thread and Matter devices): For devices supporting QR code-based network distribution, go to the add entrance in the app and scan the QR code/barcode on the device body.
  2. Quick Add (for Zigbee and other devices): For Zigbee and similar devices, go to the add entrance in the app, confirm the sub-device is in network configuration state, and it will be added automatically.
  3. Migrate to Other Gateways: This feature is applicable only to third-party Matter devices, allowing migration between gateways within the same local area network (LAN).

3.4 Connectivity and Range

The wired LAN connection ensures a stable and reliable network for your smart home. The gateway offers an indoor control range of approximately 35 meters and an outdoor control range of up to 200 meters, depending on environmental factors.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Reset Function and Accidental Erasure Protection

The gateway features a reset button for troubleshooting or re-configuration. To prevent accidental data loss, if you reset the gateway button and do not connect it to another app or homepage within 3 minutes, the device will automatically reconnect to its original homepage.

4.2 Cleaning

To clean the gateway, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays, as these may damage the device.

5.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • Device not connecting to Wi-Fi: Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz signal. Verify the network cable is securely connected to both the gateway and the router. Confirm your phone is on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during setup.
  • Sub-devices not pairing: Ensure sub-devices are in pairing mode as per their respective manuals. Check that the sub-devices are within the gateway's effective range.
  • Gateway unresponsive: Try power cycling the gateway (unplug and plug back in). If the issue persists, perform a factory reset (refer to Section 4.1) and re-add the device.
  • Lost connection after removing device from app: If you removed the device from the app without clearing its data, you might encounter connection issues. Perform a factory reset on the gateway and then re-add it to the app following the setup instructions.
