1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your MDNG Tuya Smart WiFi Video Doorphone Intercom System. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure proper functionality and safety.

2. Kit Contents

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Installation Diagram

The intercom panel should be installed at a height of 1.6 meters, avoiding direct sunlight and rain. It can be fixed to a wall, wooden board, or door using screws or tape. It can also be installed in an 86 box.

Installation Steps:

  1. Use a drill bit to create three holes. One hole must be large enough for the 4-pin wire. Use anchors if installing on brick or concrete.
  2. Remove the screws from the rain cover.
  3. Separate the rain cover from the doorbell unit.
  4. Route the 4-pin wire through the hole in the wall.
  5. Fix the rain cover with two screws.
  6. Plug the rain cover onto the doorbell and secure the bottom screws.
  7. Fix the Wall bracket to the wall with two screws.
  8. Insert the MicroSD card into the slot of the indoor monitor.
  9. Connect the other end of the 4-pin wire to either "Door1" or "Door2" of the indoor monitor.
  10. Connect the indoor monitor to the 15V 1.2A power adapter.
  11. Hang the indoor monitor onto the Wall bracket.

3.2 Wiring Diagram

The system supports connecting up to 2 intercom panels and 4 monitors. Each monitor requires a 15V 1.2A power supply. The indoor monitor and doorbell are wired connections.

The extension wires are not included. You can use RVV4/Cat5/Cat6/RG59 wires to extend the monitor to the doorbell, or monitor to monitor. The maximum distance can exceed 100m.

Electric Strike Lock Connection:

The doorbell supports connecting a delay function electronic lock. This allows you to unlock the door directly from the monitor. Please note the difference between NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed) locks:

  • NO type: Locked when electricity power off, unlocked when electricity power on.
  • NC type: Locked when electricity power on, unlocked when electricity power off.

The electric lock is not included in the package.

3.3 App Registration & Login

The system integrates with the Tuya or SmartLife app for remote monitoring and control.

  1. Register for an account if you are a first-time user.
  2. After logging in, create a family and add devices. In the app's homepage, navigate to "Me" -> "Home Management" -> "Create a home" and fill in the required information. The user who adds the device becomes the family owner.
  3. Once the home owner adds the doorphone, other home members will automatically see the doorphone. Home members can unlock the door and gate, but shared accounts cannot unlock.

3.4 WLAN Connection

Connect the monitor to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network. Click the WiFi icon on the monitor's settings to view available networks and connect.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Monitor Interface

The monitor features a touch screen interface with various icons for different functions.

Menu Icons:

  • Status bar: Displays WiFi connection, TF card status, human detection status.
  • Internal call: Intercom between monitors.
  • Monitor: View camera feed, adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, talk volume.
  • History: View unanswered, answered calls, human detection logs, messages.
  • App: Access Tuya/SmartLife app features.
  • Settings: Configure intercom panel, motion detection, monitor, date & time, WLAN, ringtones, screen, camera.

4.2 Ringtones and Screen Settings

  • Ringtones: Set ringtones for 4 time periods that cycle every 24 hours. You can set ringtone volume to 0 for rest periods or customize MP3 ringtones.
  • Screen: Adjust screen brightness and screensaver time. The screensaver can display time and weather.

4.3 Motion Detection and Call Push

The system supports smart motion detection with customizable time, sensitivity, and on/off settings. When motion is detected or a visitor presses the call button, push notifications are sent to your mobile phone via the app.

You can click "Motion detected" to view the alarm message or "You have a visitor" to enter the live video feed.

4.4 Live Video and Recording

The 1080P camera with a 140° wide-angle lens provides a clear view of visitors. The camera has a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way communication.

When visitors press the doorbell or motion is detected, the doorbell camera will automatically record videos or take snapshot pictures and save them to the monitor's MicroSD card. You can also manually take photos or videos, talk, unlock, playback, and view albums via the app.

4.5 Unlocking Methods

The system supports multiple unlocking methods:

  • APP Unlock: Unlock remotely via the Tuya/SmartLife app.
  • Monitor Unlock: Unlock directly from the indoor monitor.
  • Door Exit Unlock: Use a physical exit button connected to the system.
  • IC Card Unlock: Use RFID badges to unlock the door.

4.6 RFID Badge Configuration

The device supports 13.56MHz RFID badges. Admin badges are pre-configured.

Program Admin Badges:

  1. Connect the power supply to the indoor monitor and the monitor to the intercom panel with the 4-pin wire.
  2. Unplug and reconnect the 4-pin wire. The indoor monitor enters monitoring mode. Press the 'unlock' button within 10 seconds. Both red and green lights on the intercom panel will turn on.
  3. Swipe the first badge to make it the Add Admin badge. The green light goes out, and the red light remains on, with one beep.
  4. Swipe the second badge to make it the Delete Admin badge. The red light goes out, with a long beep. Old admin badges will be deactivated.

Add User Badges:

  1. Swipe the Add Admin badge (green light on, two beeps).
  2. Swipe user badges one by one (each swipe beeps).
  3. Swipe the Add Admin badge again (green light goes out, two beeps) to successfully add users. If not swiped again within 15 seconds, the program mode exits.

Remove User Badges:

  1. Swipe the Delete Admin badge (red light on, two beeps).
  2. Swipe user badges one by one (each swipe beeps).
  3. Swipe the Delete Admin badge again (red light goes out, two beeps) to successfully remove users. If not swiped again within 15 seconds, the program mode exits.

Remove All User Badges:

  1. Swipe the Delete Admin badge (red light on, two beeps).
  2. Swipe the Add Admin badge (one beep).
  3. Swipe the Delete Admin badge again (red light goes out, three beeps) to remove all users. If not swiped again within 15 seconds, the program mode exits.

Swipe User RFID Badges:

  • Swipe a user badge: Green light on for 4 seconds, one beep.
  • Swipe a non-user badge: Red light flashes, two beeps.

Copy User RFID Badge to Your Phone Using NFC:

If your mobile phone supports NFC, you can copy the admin or user badge to your phone. Your phone can then be used to open the door or as an admin badge to add/remove badges.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the monitor screen and outdoor unit with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Tuya/SmartLife app or the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Connection Check: Periodically check all wired connections for tightness and ensure no cables are damaged.
  • Battery (if applicable): If your system includes any battery-powered components, ensure they are charged or replaced as needed.

6. Troubleshooting

8. User Tips

  • For optimal WiFi performance, ensure your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and the monitor is within good signal range.
  • When setting up RFID badges, follow the programming steps carefully to avoid deactivating existing badges unintentionally.
  • Regularly check the MicroSD card for available storage to ensure continuous video recording.
  • If experiencing issues with app notifications, verify app permissions on your mobile device and check the notification settings within the monitor's menu.
