1. Product Overview

The HYTAIS TS20 series is a range of high-precision, pen-style digital multimeters designed for automatic recognition and anti-burn protection. These compact and versatile meters are suitable for various electrical measurements, making them ideal for both beginners and experienced users. The series includes models TS20A, TS20B, TS20C, and TS20D, each offering a unique set of features to meet different application needs.

2. Safety Information

Always observe basic safety precautions when using this product to avoid potential personal injury or damage to the meter or equipment under test. Read the entire instruction manual before use.

  • Do not apply voltage or current that exceeds the maximum specified limits.
  • Ensure the test leads are properly connected and in good condition before each use.
  • Do not use the meter if it appears damaged or if the insulation on the test leads is compromised.
  • Exercise extreme caution when working with live circuits.
  • Replace batteries promptly when the low voltage indicator appears.

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

The HYTAIS TS20 multimeter requires 2 AAA batteries for operation. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Open the cover.
  3. Insert 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Connecting Test Leads

For measurements requiring test leads (e.g., voltage, resistance, capacitance, diode, continuity), connect the black probe to the COM input and the red probe to the VΩHz input.

4. Operating Instructions

The HYTAIS TS20 series multimeters feature an automatic recognition mode for ease of use. Some models also offer manual mode selection for specific functions.

4.1. Power On/Off and Basic Functions

  • **Power On/Off:** Press and hold the red power button for 3 seconds.
  • **Function Switching:** Briefly press the 'SEL' button to cycle through available functions in manual mode (if applicable to your model).
  • **Flashlight:** Press the 'HOLD' button once, then press and hold it for 3 seconds to turn on/off the flashlight.
  • **Data Hold:** Press the 'HOLD' button briefly to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.

4.2. Automatic Recognition (AI Smart Mode)

Upon power-on, the multimeter automatically enters smart mode, detecting the type of measurement (AC/DC voltage, resistance, continuity) without requiring manual selection. This feature simplifies operation, especially for beginners.

4.3. Specific Measurement Functions

Below are common measurement functions and how to use them:

  • **NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Detection:** Press the 'NCV/LIVE' button to activate. Hold the tip of the multimeter near a live wire or outlet. The device will indicate the presence of AC voltage without direct contact. NCV (Non-contact voltage detection) in action near a power outlet

  • **Live Wire Detection:** Press the 'NCV/LIVE' button to activate. Insert the probe into the live terminal of an outlet. The multimeter will sound an alarm for live wires and remain silent for neutral wires. Live wire measurement using the multimeter

  • **AC Voltage Test:** Connect the test leads to the circuit. The multimeter will automatically detect and display the AC voltage. (Refer to video for demonstration)

  • **Ambient Temperature Test (TS20D only):** The TS20D model can measure ambient temperature.
  • **Phase Sequence (TS20D only):** The TS20D model includes a phase sequence detection function.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

Wipe the meter with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.

5.2. Test Lead Replacement

The test leads are detachable and replaceable. If the leads become damaged, replace them with appropriate safety-rated leads.

5.3. Nib Replacement

The nib of the multimeter is detachable and replaceable, making it convenient for long-term use.

6. Troubleshooting

  • **No display/Meter won't turn on:** Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • **Inaccurate readings:** Ensure test leads are properly connected and making good contact with the circuit. Verify the correct function mode is selected (if not using auto mode).
  • **No NCV/Live Wire detection:** Ensure the NCV/LIVE button is pressed and the meter is held close enough to the live source.
  • **Continuity buzzer not working:** Check if the continuity mode is active and if the circuit is indeed continuous.
