7. Maintenance

  • Probe Cleaning: Regularly clean the probes with distilled water to remove any residue that might affect accuracy. For stubborn deposits, use a soft brush and a mild cleaning solution specifically designed for pH/ORP/EC probes.
  • Probe Storage: When not in use, store pH and ORP probes in their respective storage solutions or in a moist environment (e.g., a few drops of KCL solution in the probe cap) to prevent them from drying out. The EC/TDS/Salt/S.G/CF probe can typically be stored dry after cleaning.
  • Calibration Frequency: Calibrate the device regularly, especially before critical measurements or if you suspect inaccurate readings. pH probes generally require more frequent calibration than other probes.
  • Device Cleaning: Wipe the main unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
  • Power Supply: Ensure the power adapter is always connected to a stable power source.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Solution: Recalibrate all probes using fresh calibration solutions. Ensure probes are clean and free from debris. Check for damaged probes and replace if necessary.
  • No Display/Device Not Powering On:
    • Solution: Verify the power adapter is securely connected to both the monitor and a working power outlet. Check the power outlet with another device.
  • WiFi Connection Issues:
    • Solution: Ensure the monitor's WiFi is enabled (long press 'MODE' button). Check your router's internet connection. Make sure the device is within range of your WiFi network. Restart the monitor and your router. Re-attempt the pairing process in the Tuya Smart App.
  • App Not Displaying Data:
    • Solution: Confirm the monitor is connected to WiFi and successfully paired with the app. Check your phone's internet connection. Close and reopen the Tuya Smart App.
  • Probes Not Responding:
    • Solution: Ensure probes are correctly and securely connected to their respective ports. Check for any visible damage to the probe cables or connectors.

10. User Tips

  • Understand Device Capabilities: The PH-W218 is designed to measure PH, ORP, TDS, EC, Salt, S.G, CF, and Temperature. It does not directly measure parameters like calcium, alkalinity, or magnesium. For these specific measurements, additional testing kits or devices would be required.
  • Regular Calibration is Key: To ensure the most accurate readings, especially for pH and ORP, perform calibrations regularly as recommended in the manual or when you notice inconsistent results.
  • Probe Care: Always keep pH and ORP probes moist when not in use to prolong their lifespan and maintain accuracy.
  • Data Logging for Trends: Utilize the app's data logging feature to track trends over time. This can help identify potential issues before they become critical, especially in sensitive environments like aquariums or hydroponics.
