5. Setup Instructions

5.1 Pre-installation Check

Before beginning installation, ensure your vehicle's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected. Confirm that the multimedia player is compatible with your Toyota Camry model (2006-2011).

5.2 Physical Installation

Carefully remove your existing car stereo. Install the new MEKEDE head unit into the dashboard. The unit is designed for a seamless fit in Toyota Camry models from 2006-2011.

5.3 Wiring Connections

Connect the power cable, RCA cable, USB cables, reversing camera cable, and GPS antenna to the corresponding ports on the back of the head unit. Refer to the wiring diagrams below for detailed connections.

5.3.1 Rear View Camera Connection

  1. Connect the red cable (2) to the back light "+".
  2. Connect the black cable (1) to the "GND".
  3. The reverse detection cable (4, brown color) is connected to the red cable (3) which extends from the video output cable.

5.4 Steering Wheel Control Setup

5.4.1 With Canbus Box

If your unit includes a Canbus box, ensure it and the 8-pin serial cable are connected to the multimedia player before setup. Then, refer to the provided image to configure your car model in the system settings.

5.4.2 Without Canbus Box

If your unit does not have a Canbus box, you will need to manually learn the steering wheel controls. Access the 'Keys' settings in the system menu and follow the on-screen instructions for 'Steering wheel button learn' or 'Panel button learn'.

  • GPS Signal Issues: Ensure the GPS antenna is properly installed and has a clear view of the sky.
  • Bluetooth Connection Problems: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the head unit and your smartphone. Try unpairing and re-pairing the devices.
  • Steering Wheel Controls Not Working: Re-check wiring for Canbus (if applicable) or re-perform the steering wheel button learning process.
