For Cat Fountains, Fish Tanks, and Pet Drinkers

1. Product Overview

The JINGNUO JN-206 is a compact and efficient DC/USB submersible water pump designed for various small-scale water circulation applications, such as pet drinking fountains, small fish tanks, and hydroponic systems. It operates on a safe 5V DC power supply, typically via a USB connection, and offers different operational modes including standard, with LED lighting, and an automatic dry-burning prevention feature with water level detection.

3. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the pump and its USB cable from the packaging. Inspect for any visible damage.
  2. Attach Tubing (Optional): If your application requires tubing, connect it securely to the pump's outlet nozzle (outer diameter 0.86 cm).
  3. Position the Pump: Place the pump at the desired location within your water container (e.g., pet fountain, fish tank). The pump is equipped with suction cups on its base for stable mounting.

  4. Submerge Completely: Ensure the pump is fully submerged in water before connecting power. Running the pump dry for extended periods, even with dry-burning tolerance, can reduce its lifespan.
  5. Connect Power: Plug the USB connector into a compatible 5V USB power source (e.g., USB wall adapter, power bank, computer USB port).

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Once connected to a 5V USB power source and fully submerged, the pump will start operating automatically.
  2. Check Water Flow: Verify that water is flowing smoothly from the pump's outlet.
  3. LED Indicators (for 'With Light' and 'Light + No Water Power Off' modes):
    • Blue Light: Indicates normal operation with sufficient water.
    • Red Light: Indicates low water level.
  4. Automatic Shut-off (for 'Light + No Water Power Off' mode only): If the water level drops too low and the red light is active, the pump will automatically shut off to prevent damage. Refill the water container to resume operation.
  5. Power Off: To stop the pump, simply disconnect the USB power cable from its source.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your JN-206 pump.

  • Weekly Cleaning: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Remove the pump from the water and gently rinse its exterior.
  • Impeller Cleaning: Periodically, remove the front cover (if detachable) to access and clean the impeller. Remove any hair, debris, or mineral buildup that may obstruct its rotation. Use a small brush or cotton swab for thorough cleaning.
  • Water Quality: Use clean water to prevent rapid mineral buildup and algae growth, which can clog the pump.
  • Check Water Level: Always ensure the pump is fully submerged during operation. For models without the 'No Water Power Off' feature, manually monitor the water level to prevent dry running.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Pump not running No power; Not fully submerged; Impeller blocked. Check USB connection and power source; Ensure pump is fully submerged; Clean impeller and pump inlet.
Weak water flow Clogged inlet/impeller; Low water level. Clean pump inlet and impeller; Refill water container to ensure full submersion.
LED shows red (if applicable) Low water level. Refill water container.
Pump automatically shuts off (if applicable) Water level too low (dry-burning protection activated). Refill water container. The pump should restart automatically once sufficient water is detected.

7. User Tips

  • For optimal performance and longevity, always ensure the pump is completely submerged in water during operation.
  • Regular cleaning (at least once a week) of the pump and its impeller will prevent clogs and maintain strong water flow.
  • Use a dedicated 5V USB wall adapter for consistent power supply, rather than a computer USB port which might fluctuate.
  • If using in a pet fountain, consider using filtered water to minimize mineral buildup and keep the water cleaner for your pet.
