5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Data Transfer
The Yottamaster VN Series enclosure utilizes the USB 3.1 Gen2 (Type-C) protocol, enabling high-speed data transfers up to 10Gbps. This allows for rapid transfer of large files, such as 1GB in seconds, making it ideal for demanding tasks like video editing and large data backups.
5.2 Daisy-Chain Functionality

The enclosure supports daisy-chaining, allowing you to connect up to three Yottamaster VN Series devices together. This expands your total storage capacity significantly, up to an enormous 330TB (with 22TB drives in each bay).
5.3 LED Indicator Status
Video: Explanation of the LED indicator states on the drive bays.
The LED indicators on each drive bay provide visual feedback on the drive's status:
- Blue light: Indicates a normal operating state for the drive.
- Alternating blue and red: Indicates that the drive is being recognized or data is actively being transferred.
- Red light: Indicates a faulty state for the drive.
5.4 Intelligent Sleep Function
To conserve energy and extend drive lifespan, the enclosure features an intelligent sleep function. If there is no data activity for 10 minutes, the enclosure will automatically enter a sleep mode. This function can be adjusted or canceled using specific firmware updates or compatible third-party software.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cooling System

The enclosure is equipped with a honeycomb cooling design and a silent fan to maintain optimal operating temperatures for your hard drives. The fan automatically adjusts its speed based on the hard drive's temperature, ensuring efficient heat dissipation and preventing overheating.
6.2 Cleaning
To clean the exterior of the enclosure, power it off and disconnect all cables. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the finish. Do not spray cleaners directly onto the device.
7. Troubleshooting
- Drive Not Recognized:
- Ensure all data and power cables are securely connected.
- Verify that the hard drives are properly seated in their respective trays.
- Check the LED indicator for the drive; a red light indicates a faulty state.
- Try connecting the enclosure to a different USB port or using a different data cable.
- Test the hard drive(s) in another system to confirm they are functional. - Slow Transfer Speeds:
- Confirm that the enclosure is connected to a USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps) port on your computer.
- Ensure you are using the provided high-quality data cable.
- Disconnect other high-bandwidth USB devices that might be sharing the same USB controller.
- Verify your computer's operating system and drivers are up to date. - Enclosure Not Powering On:
- Check that the power cable is firmly connected to both the enclosure and the power outlet.
- Ensure the power switch on the back of the enclosure is in the 'ON' position.
- Try plugging the power cable into a different electrical outlet.
