GEYA GRT6-A/B Series Time Relay Instruction Manual

Models: GRT6-A (Delay ON) and GRT6-B (Delay OFF)

Brand: GEYA

1. Introduction

The GEYA GRT6-A/B series are single-function electronic time relays designed for various automation control applications. The GRT6-A model provides a Delay ON function, while the GRT6-B model offers a Delay OFF function. These relays are suitable for applications requiring precise timing, such as pump decay time after switching heating off, or controlling fans.

Key features include a wide range voltage support, multiple time ranges, and clear LED indicators for relay status.

2. Product Overview

The GRT6 series time relays are compact, 1-module (18mm) devices designed for DIN rail mounting. They feature a potentiometer for time setting and LED indicators for power (green) and output status (red).

3.2 Mounting

The GRT6 series relays are designed for DIN rail mounting according to EN/IEC 60715 standards. Ensure the mounting location provides adequate ventilation and is within the specified operating temperature range.

3.3 Wiring

Proper wiring is crucial for safe and correct operation. Always ensure power is disconnected before performing any wiring. The relays support solid wire up to 1x2.5mm² or 2x1.5mm², and with sleeve up to 1x2.5mm² (AWG 12). The tightening torque for terminals is 0.4Nm.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Function Selection

  • GRT6-A (Delay ON): The output relay activates after a preset delay time once the supply voltage is applied.
  • GRT6-B (Delay OFF): The output relay deactivates after a preset delay time once the supply voltage is removed.

4.2 Time Setting

The delay time is set using two potentiometers (knobs) on the front panel:

  1. Knob 1 (Delay Gear Setting): Selects the time range (e.g., seconds 's', minutes 'm', hours 'h', days 'd'). It also includes 'ON' for relay action (15-18/25-28 closed) and 'OFF' for relay open (15-18/25-28 open) for continuous operation modes.
  2. Knob 2 (Fine Adjustment): Provides a fine adjustment of the delay time from 10% to 100% within the selected range.

Calculation: Delay time = Knob 1 setting × Knob 2 percentage.

Examples:

  • To set a 5-second delay: Set Knob 1 to '10s', and Knob 2 to '50%'. Delay time = 10s × 50% = 5s.
  • To set an 8-minute delay: Set Knob 1 to '10m', and Knob 2 to '80%'. Delay time = 10m × 80% = 8m.

4.3 Indicators

  • Green LED (Un): Indicates the presence of supply voltage.
  • Red LED (R): Indicates the status of the output relay.

5. Maintenance

The GEYA GRT6 series time relays are designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance. To ensure optimal performance:

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris.
  • Periodically check all electrical connections for tightness and ensure they are free from corrosion.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or corrosive environments beyond its specified operating conditions.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Refer to qualified personnel for any servicing needs.

6. Troubleshooting

If the time relay is not functioning as expected, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power Indication (Green LED Off): Check the power supply connections (A1-A2) and ensure the correct voltage is applied.
  • Relay Not Activating/Deactivating:
    • Verify the wiring connections to the load (terminals 15, 16, 18 or 25, 26, 28).
    • Ensure the time setting is correctly configured for the desired delay.
    • Check the output relay status using the Red LED indicator.
  • Incorrect Timing:
    • Re-check the settings on both potentiometers (Knob 1 for range, Knob 2 for fine adjustment).
    • Ensure the ambient temperature is within the specified operating range, as extreme temperatures can affect timing accuracy.
  • Device Overheating: Ensure adequate ventilation around the device and that it is not overloaded beyond its rated current.

If problems persist after performing these checks, contact GEYA customer support.

8. User Tips

  • Understanding Delay Functions: The GRT6-A is a 'delay on connection' type relay, meaning the output activates after a set time once power is applied. The GRT6-B is a 'delay off' type, where the output deactivates after a set time once power is removed. Ensure you select the correct model for your application.
  • Voltage Compatibility: Always confirm the voltage of your power supply matches the relay's specified voltage (AC230V or AC/DC24-240V) to prevent damage.
  • Application Versatility: These relays are widely applicable in industrial automation, power systems, household appliances, and automotive electronics. Consider their use for controlling motors, lighting, or other timed processes.
