- Ensure you have the necessary tools (screwdriver, wire strippers, electrical tape).
- Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about any steps.
Wiring Instructions:

Figure 3: Dimensions and Wiring Diagram
- Prepare Wiring: Route the electrical wires from the circuit breaker, the heating mat/cable, and the floor sensor to the thermostat's electrical box.
- Connect Power (L1, N): Connect the Line (L1) and Neutral (N) wires from your electrical supply to the corresponding terminals on the thermostat.
- Connect Load (LOAD L, LOAD N): Connect the Line (L) and Neutral (N) wires from your electric floor heating system to the 'LOAD' terminals on the thermostat.
- Connect Floor Sensor (IN/SNR A, B): Connect the two wires from the floor sensor to the 'IN/SNR A' and 'IN/SNR B' terminals. Polarity is typically not critical for the sensor.
- Secure Thermostat: Carefully push the wires into the electrical box and secure the thermostat to the wall box using the provided mounting screws.
- Restore Power: Once all connections are secure and the thermostat is mounted, restore power at the circuit breaker.
6. Operation
The ET-72 thermostat features a touch interface for easy control. The large LCD displays current temperature, set temperature, time, and day of the week.
6.1 Basic Controls
- Power Button: Turns the thermostat ON/OFF.
- Up/Down Arrows: Adjust the set temperature or navigate menu options.
- OK Button: Confirms selections or enters menu settings.
- Mode Button: Switches between different operating modes (e.g., Auto, Manual).
6.2 Programming 7-Day Schedule
The thermostat supports 7-day scheduling with 4 or 2 stages per day. This allows you to set different temperatures for various times of the day and days of the week to optimize comfort and energy savings.
- Enter Programming Mode: Press and hold the 'OK' button for a few seconds until the programming menu appears.
- Select Day: Use the Up/Down arrows to select the day or group of days you wish to program (e.g., Mon-Fri, Sat-Sun, or individual days). Press 'OK'.
- Set Stages: For each stage (e.g., Wake, Leave, Return, Sleep), set the desired time and temperature using the Up/Down arrows and 'OK' button.
- Repeat: Repeat for all desired days and stages.
- Exit Programming: Save changes and exit programming mode (refer to the on-screen prompts or press the 'Mode' button).
7. Sensor Applications
The ET-72 thermostat offers three sensor application modes:
- Room Mode: Controls the room temperature based solely on the thermostat's built-in ambient air sensor. The floor sensor is not used in this mode.
- Floor Mode: Controls the floor temperature based solely on the external floor sensor. This mode is ideal for maintaining a consistent floor surface temperature.
- Room Limit Mode: Controls the room temperature using the built-in sensor while simultaneously monitoring the floor temperature via the external sensor. In this mode, the floor temperature will not exceed a user-defined upper limit, preventing overheating of the floor.
You can select the desired sensor mode through the thermostat's settings menu.
8. Maintenance
8.1 GFCI Testing
It is very important to check the GFCI function monthly to ensure proper operation and continued protection against electric shock.
- Press the 'TEST' button on the GFCI. The thermostat should immediately turn off, and an error message or indicator should appear on the display.
- Press the 'RESET' button on the GFCI. The thermostat should resume normal operation.
- If the GFCI does not trip or reset correctly, discontinue use of the heating system and contact a qualified electrician immediately.
8.2 Cleaning
Wipe the thermostat's surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the display or casing.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Thermostat not turning on | No power supply; tripped circuit breaker; loose wiring. | Check circuit breaker; verify power at the electrical panel; inspect wiring connections. |
| Heating system not working | Thermostat in OFF mode; incorrect temperature setting; GFCI tripped; faulty heating element. | Ensure thermostat is ON; adjust set temperature; reset GFCI; consult electrician for heating element check. |
| Inaccurate temperature readings | Sensor placement issues; faulty sensor. | Ensure sensors are not obstructed or near heat sources; replace sensor if faulty. |
| GFCI trips frequently | Ground fault in heating system; faulty GFCI. | Contact a qualified electrician to diagnose the ground fault or replace the thermostat. |
10. User Tips
- For optimal energy efficiency, utilize the 7-day programming feature to match your heating schedule with your daily routine.
- Consider using the 'Room Limit' sensor mode to prevent your floor from becoming excessively hot while still maintaining comfortable ambient room temperature.
- Regularly clean the thermostat screen to ensure clear visibility and responsive touch controls.
- If you experience any issues, always try cycling the power at the circuit breaker for a few minutes before contacting support.
