1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your TOOLTOP Macro Lens. This accessory is designed to significantly enhance the close-up thermal imaging capabilities of compatible TOOLTOP thermal cameras, allowing for more detailed inspection of small components and intricate circuits.
2. Compatibility
Important Note:
This macro lens is specifically designed for use with the TOOLTOP ET14S Thermal Imaging Multimeter and the TOOLTOP ET14C Thermal Camera. It is not compatible with other models such as ET15S, ET13S, or any other thermal imaging devices. Please ensure your device model matches the specified compatibility before installation.
3. Installation
Follow these steps to correctly install the macro lens onto your compatible thermal camera:
- Prepare for Installation: Ensure your thermal camera is powered off before beginning the installation process.
- Tilt the Macro Lens: Hold the macro lens and tilt it slightly to align with the camera's lens slot.
- Insert Front Corners: Carefully insert the front two corners of the macro lens into the designated card slot on your thermal camera.
- Secure the Lens: Gently press the back of the macro lens until the entire lens assembly is securely inserted and seated within the card slot. It should fit snugly without excessive force.
For a visual guide, please refer to the installation video below:

4. Operation
Once installed, the macro lens allows your thermal camera to capture detailed thermal images of objects at a very close range.
- Working Distance: The optimal working distance for the macro lens is approximately 2.5 cm from the target object. If the distance exceeds this, the thermal image may become blurred. For objects beyond this range, remove the macro lens and use the thermal camera in its normal operating mode.
- Fine-tuning Focus: During use, you may need to slightly move the macro lens (and thus the camera) left and right to achieve the sharpest possible thermal image. This helps in focusing on specific small components.
Observe the difference in thermal image detail with and without the macro lens:

This image illustrates the enhanced detail provided by the macro lens, showing a clearer thermal view of components compared to an image taken without it. It also highlights the need to move the lens for optimal focus.
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your macro lens:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optics to clean the lens surface. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could scratch or damage the lens coating.
- Storage: When not in use, store the macro lens in a clean, dry place, preferably in its original packaging or a protective case, to prevent dust and scratches.
- Handling: Handle the lens carefully to avoid dropping or impacting it, which could cause misalignment or damage.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues while using the macro lens, consider the following:
- Blurred Image: If the image appears blurry, ensure the macro lens is securely installed. Check the working distance; it should be approximately 2.5 cm from the target. Try slightly adjusting the distance or moving the lens left/right to find the optimal focus.
- Lens Not Fitting: Double-check that your thermal camera model (ET14S or ET14C) is compatible with this macro lens. Do not force the lens into place.
- No Improvement in Detail: Verify that the lens surface is clean and free from smudges or dust.
